Position Title: Shadeform Installer | Department: Operations / Installation Field Team | Reports To: Installation lead personnel / General Manager | Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Purpose The Shadeform Installer is responsible for the safe, precise, and effective installation of commercial and residential shade structures. This role requires high-quality workmanship in erecting tension membrane structures, shade sails, umbrellas, and other architectural outdoor structures to ensure safety, durability, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- On-Site Installation
- Assemble structural components.
- Erect steel posts.
- Install rigging hardware components.
- Tension heavy-duty shade fabrics.
- Install architectural umbrella systems.
- Site preparation Excavate post footings, pour concrete footings, and erect galvanized, Powder coated or marine-grade steel support sections or columns.
- Sail Fitting Rig, tension, and secure custom-made shade sails, canopies, or retractable Shaderunner systems using stainless steel hardware.
- Maintenance & Service, Conduct routine on-site repairs, fabric tension adjustments, and hardware checks for existing structures.
2. Technical Execution
- Read and understand site layout plans & Drawings.
- Use specialized power tools.
- Use cordless power tools
- Assist in concrete footing installations.
- Complete Job Safety Analyses (JSA) where applicable.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain safe work zones.
- Secure tools at heights.
4. Team & Client Relations
- Coordinate tasks with team members.
- Communicate politely with clients.
- Resolve on-site layout adjustments.
- Clean sites post-installation.
- Report project completion status.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience & Licensing
- Valid driver's license.
- White Card (General Construction Induction).
- Working at Heights certification. (Desirable)
- EWP (Elevated Work Platform) license. (Desirable)
- Previous building or construction experience. (An Advantage)
Physical & Technical Skills
- High level of physical fitness.
- Ability to lift medium to heavy objects.
- Proficient with mechanical hand tools.
- Strong spatial awareness skills.
- Comfort working in outdoor elements.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Safety & Compliance: Follow all work health and safety (WHS) guidelines, manage site hazards, and work safely at heights, full compliance with safety protocols and zero preventable incidents.
- Accuracy: Zero rework required due to installation measurement errors.
- Punctuality: Projects completed within the allocated timeframes.
- Care: Zero damage to client property or shade materials during transport and setup.
