This is an intial 3 month contract with the potential to extend.
The Role
Reporting to the Corporate Services Director, the Legal Counsel will provide practical, commercially focused legal advice across the business. Acting as a trusted business partner, you will work closely with leaders across multiple functions to support commercial objectives, business growth and effective risk management.
This is a broad role encompassing commercial negotiations, employment and workplace matters, intellectual property, insurance, disputes, corporate governance and regulatory compliance. You will also play a key role in improving legal processes through technology, automation and the responsible use of AI.
Key responsibilities include
- Providing pragmatic legal advice across commercial and operational matters.
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements.
- Supporting business development, commercial negotiations and strategic initiatives.
- Advising on employment,
workplace relations and employee matters.
- Supporting corporate governance and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Delivering legal education and guidance across the business.
- Managing relationships with external legal advisers.
Your Background To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor qualification and admission to practice in Australia.
- At least 5 years' experience in an in-house Legal Counsel role within FMCG, consumer health, consumer goods or a related industry.
- Strong experience partnering with commercial and corporate functions to provide practical, business-focused legal advice.
- Proven capability negotiating commercial agreements and managing legal matters independently.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
- A pragmatic, proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
