THE ROLE
As Legal Counsel, you'll be a key player in People & Legal, providing timely, effective and strategic advice across everything from large-scale corporate and real estate transactions to fund, investment and property management, corporate compliance, construction matters, disputes, debt/equity matters, workplace relations, and privacy and data governance.
You'll work across the full breadth of TLC's legal function - drafting and negotiating documentation, leading transaction workstreams, and building strong relationships with stakeholders both inside and outside the business.
Day-to-day you will be (but not limited to):
- Providing comprehensive, solution-focused legal advice to support project and organisational outcomes, and address legal risk
- Drafting, reviewing and advising on commercial contracts and other legal documentation
- Leading legal workstreams across acquisitions, disposals and development transactions from origination through to completion
- Managing correspondence and building relationships with key stakeholders, including external legal providers, authorities and government partners
- Identifying, communicating and escalating significant legal risks, and collaborating with stakeholders on solutions
- Contributing to the drafting and implementation of internal governance policies and operating procedures
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Law degree and a current Australian Practising Certificate
- Minimum 5+ years post-admission experience, including at least 1-2 years as in-house Legal Counsel
- Relevant post-qualification experience across some or all of: commercial contracts, corporations law, funds management, real estate and development law, construction law, IP, employment law, litigation, and privacy/data governance
- Proven ability to provide strategic and pragmatic legal advice on complex legal and regulatory matters
- Highly developed stakeholder management skills, both internal and external, with robust commercial judgment
- Confident, proactive and highly organised, with a track record of taking initiative and owning matters through to resolution
