We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to join a well-established, growing organisation within the Data Centre and Mission Critical sector in Melbourne, VIC. This is a permanent opportunity to join a high-performing Mechanical team delivering technically complex, large-scale projects across Australia and internationally.
This role offers the opportunity to work on hyperscale and mission-critical data centre developments, taking ownership of projects from concept through to delivery whilst working alongside experienced industry leaders in a cooperative environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver mechanical building services systems across Data Centre and Mission Critical projects.
- Produce detailed mechanical engineering designs including HVAC systems, chilled water systems, ventilation and equipment selections.
- Complete engineering calculations including cooling loads, ventilation, pipework and ductwork sizing.
- Prepare technical specifications, reports and supporting design documentation.
- Coordinate mechanical services with electrical, hydraulic, fire protection and structural disciplines.
- Attend site inspections and surveys to support project delivery and construction activities.
- Participate in client meetings and provide technical advice throughout project delivery.
- Work closely with senior engineers, BIM technicians and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Support projects from concept design through to construction and commissioning.
- Identify and resolve technical engineering challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Experience
- Strong mechanical building services design experience within Data Centres, Mission Critical, Healthcare or complex commercial projects.
- Experience designing HVAC and mechanical systems across concept, detailed design and construction phases.
- Strong understanding of chilled water systems, ventilation systems, air conditioning and mechanical plant selection.
- Experience producing mechanical calculations, technical reports and design documentation.
- Ability to coordinate effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Exposure to client-facing environments and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience managing mechanical design packages across multiple concurrent projects.
- Knowledge of Australian Standards, ASHRAE and relevant Building Services design principles.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer (CPEng), RPEQ, NER or equivalent registration highly regarded.
