Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.

Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group'.

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The MCV determines in excess of 200,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, dealing with over 90 percent of all adult cases that come before Victorian courts each year.

About the Role

Lead strategic media engagement for Victoria's busiest court system and help shape public understanding of the justice sector.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced media and public affairs professional to lead the Magistrates' Court of Victoria's media function, providing expert advice to senior leaders and overseeing high-profile media, stakeholder and reputation management strategies.

As Media Manager, you will lead a small, high-performing team responsible for proactive and reactive media engagement, crisis communications and issues management in a fast-paced,



high-volume environment. You will work closely with the Chief Magistrate, Chief Executive Officer and senior executives, providing trusted advice on media strategy, public affairs and reputation management.

In this role, you will:

- Lead the development and delivery of strategic media and public affairs initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with metropolitan and regional media.
- Provide expert advice on media engagement, issues management and reputational risk.
- Manage complex and sensitive communications, including crisis responses.
- Develop speeches, presentations, briefs and executive communications for senior leaders.
- Drive innovative approaches to community engagement and public awareness.
- Lead, coach and support a small team of media professionals.

About You

You are an experienced communications and media skilled with demonstrated expertise in media relations, public affairs and strategic communications. You bring a strong understanding of the media landscape and the unique relationship between the media and the justice system. Your other strengths will include:

- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop staff, and manage complex, sensitive issues.
- Exceptional communication skills with experience preparing executive communications, media responses and strategic advice.




- Proven success at building and maintaining effective relationships with media, stakeholders and senior executives.
- An ability to exercise sound judgement, manage competing priorities and perform effectively in a high pressure environment.
- Relevant qualifications in communications, public relations or a related discipline, or equivalent skilled experience.
