Are you passionate about supporting children, young people and their families? Anglicare Tasmania is seeking a permanent, part-time (38 hours fortnightly) Mental Health Worker – Taz Kids Program based in Devonport.

We provide programs relating to ageing and disability, health, housing, families, drug and alcohol treatment and support and more.

About the Role

The Taz Kids Program provides support and education for young Tasmanians aged 7 to 17 who have a parent or guardian affected by mental health challenges. The program is predominantly activity based with education and support groups run for children; activity days offered in the school holidays and family support given through both family and parent events. The program is statewide with workers required to work independently to organise and deliver the program in their region.

The successful applicant will possess demonstrable competency, knowledge, understanding and/or skills in the following areas:

- To provide the following early intervention programs across metro and rural areas in accordance with program guidelines and resources, Anglicare polices and procedures and National guidelines for Mental Health and contribute to the development of Anglicare’s Community Services.
- Taz Kids Clubs - are six to eight week peer support and education programs run weekly for children aged 7-12 and 13-17 who have a parent affected by mental health challenges.
- Activity Days - are organised events for children who have a parent affected by mental health challenges and provide a range of support and activities including peer support, creative and outdoor activities and are psycho-educational.




- Parenting support and family events are groups designed to enhance the social connectedness of Tasmanian parents and families managing mental health challenges while parenting.
- Establish effective networks with other community support services, and liaison with community mental health services and/or key workers.
- Maintain accurate case notes and statistics in accordance with service requirements and contractual arrangements. Complete clerical and administrative tasks associated with support work in accordance with established guidelines.
- Assist the Program Manager – Community Services by contributing to policy and procedure formation, annual evaluations, and other planning and quality management processes.
- Participate in team based processes including team-debriefing and case consultation, staff and volunteer induction activities, program planning activities, team meetings, training and skills development and offer support and guidance to other team members as appropriate.
- Maintain a safe working workplace by adhering to Workplace Health and Safety policies, procedures and guidelines and by working in a responsible manner to ensure the safety of oneself, other staff members, clients and visitors to Anglicare.
- Other reasonable duties as directed by a manager

The successful applicant will be required to:





- provide a current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration (employment/volunteer category) including NDIS Worker Screening Check if you are applying for the 1st time or have renewed your registration since 1st February 2021;
- present a Probity or Schedule 1 National Police Check (no older than 12 months);
- provide an International Police Check if you have resided for 12 months or more outside of Australia after the age of 16;
- provide a satisfactory Anglicare assessed medical:
- provide a current provisional or full Australian Driver Licence.
