Senior Cloud Architect / Cloud Engineer
Nexosoft is seeking experienced Senior Cloud Architects and Cloud Engineers for an opportunity with the Department of Industry, Science and Resources. DISR is a customer of Nexosoft, and Nexosoft is working to provide suitable candidates for DISR’s consideration.
This is a senior, EL1-equivalent ICT labour hire prospect supporting cloud architecture and engineering activities across Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments. The successful candidates will help design, guide and deliver cloud-based solutions aligned with stakeholder needs, project objectives and whole-of-government standards.

- Engagement type: ICT Labour Hire
- Initial contract duration: 12 months
- Extension options: 2 x 12 months
- Estimated start date: Monday, 19 October 2026
- Working arrangements: Remote arrangements may be considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to business needs
- Maximum hours: 40 hours per week
- Security clearance: Must be able to obtain Baseline
About the role The Cloud Architects and/or Cloud Engineers will contribute to enterprise-level cloud platform architectures, high-level solution designs, detailed cloud engineering guidance, impact analysis, technical design input, automation, integration and collaboration across multi-disciplinary delivery teams.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Develop enterprise-level cloud platform architectures for Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.
- Develop high-level solution architectures for cloud-based systems.
- Develop detailed architecture guidance for cloud engineers.
- Provide impact analysis of user and stakeholder requirements.
- Ensure solutions maintain adherence to whole-of-government standards.
- Provide technical guidance and input into the design and build of cloud-based systems.
- Work with cross-functional teams including business owners, scrum masters, business analysts, developers, enterprise architects and testers.
- Support architectural alignment with user experience, ICT engagement and enterprise architecture considerations.
- Provide expertise and assistance in platform automation, testing, continuous integration and deployment.
- Promote enterprise architecture principles and secure, reusable, scalable cloud solutions.
Essential criteria
- Cloud experience: Demonstrated experience in cloud-based solution implementation with technologies including:
- Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, Azure SQL, Azure Service Bus and Azure API Management
- Azure DevOps for code development, management, repositories, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD deployments
- Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor and Application Insights
- Integrating cloud-based systems with third-party systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM
- Azure networking, security and identity management capabilities including Virtual Networks, Private Endpoints and Role Based Access Control

- Agile: · Experience working with Agile Multi-disciplinary teams to deliver secure, user friendly and reliable solutions that meet stakeholder, citizen, and business expectations. · Ability to pragmatically change direction and scope as new information is discovered and challenges or opportunities present themselves
- Technical Skills: Demonstrated experience 5yrs+ implementing and managing cloud systems and technologies. The Cloud Architect/Engineer will: · Liaise with cross-functional teams to develop and manage enterprise and application-level architectures for MS-Azure. · Provide impact analysis and technical guidance in design and development of project work aligned with WoG Standards
Desirable criteria
- • Demonstrated track record of technical leadership across project and operational tasks
- • Demonstrated experience and understanding of cloud-based technologies and architectures
- • Demonstrated experience in application and integration, or infrastructure platform architecture.
- • Minimum 3 years’ experience designing and documenting architectures for large, complex enterprise systems. • Experience with AWS and/or GCP is desirable but not essential.
