Independent Director Opportunity | Community Housing | Melbourne’s West

Social Compass Group is partnering with a well-established, community-based housing organisation in Melbourne’s western suburbs to appoint one, potentially two, Independent Directors to its Board.

This is a grassroots organisation with a solid community focus and a long history of providing secure, affordable housing. As it enters its next strategic phase, the Board is looking to strengthen its capability while retaining the values and community connection that sit at the heart of the organisation.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people who bring experience in:

- Governance, risk and regulatory environments
- Housing, community housing or government processes

• Working within compliance and regulatory frameworks

• Strategic thinking, understanding good governance & constructive contribution at Board level

• Community-based for-purpose organisations

Previous Board experience will be highly regarded,



particularly for one of the appointments. However, we are also open to an emerging or first-time Director who brings strong relevant experience, understands good governance and is ready to make the transition from executive or professional leadership into the Boardroom.

Just as important as technical capability is cultural alignment . We are looking for people who value grassroots organisations, understand the importance of community and member voice, and can strengthen governance without losing sight of what makes a community-based organisation distinctive.
