About the role

We are seeking an Operations Manager to join Philip Stephens Funerals in Mornington, Tasmania. This is a full-time position that plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth, efficient and compassionate operation of our funeral home.

As Operations

Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations, managing staff, maintaining facilities and upholding the highest standards of service to families during their most difficult times. This role is essential to our mission of providing dignified, professional and caring funeral services to the community.

Key responsibilities

- Oversee all operational aspects of the funeral home, including scheduling, facility management and service delivery
- Manage, recruit, train and supervise funeral home staff to ensure they deliver compassionate and professional service
- Maintain health, safety and compliance standards, including adherence to relevant legislation and regulations
- Manage budget and financial performance for the funeral home location
- Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and service quality
- Liaise with families to understand their needs and ensure funeral arrangements meet expectations
- Maintain and manage funeral home facilities, equipment and resources
- Monitor and manage inventory of funeral supplies and merchandise
- Handle complaints or concerns professionally and work towards satisfactory resolution
- Foster strong relationships with the local community and other funeral industry partners

What we're looking for

- Proven experience in operations management or a similar supervisory role,



preferably within the funeral services industry or community services sector
- Strong knowledge of funeral industry practices, regulations and compliance requirements
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop teams
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work sensitively with bereaved families
- Sound financial acumen and ability to manage budgets effectively
- Proficiency in relevant computer systems and software
- Problem-solving ability and sound judgement when handling sensitive situations
- High level of professionalism, integrity and discretion
- Current or willingness to obtain relevant licences or certifications as required by Tasmanian legislation
- Preferred: Background in community services, management or funeral services industry
