The Opportunity
BBC Studios ANZ has experienced significant growth and organisational evolution over recent years. As the business continues to develop, we are investing in additional people capability within our Sydney office to support leaders, strengthen organisational effectiveness and ensure our people practices continue to evolve alongside the business.
This newly created 12-month role will provide dedicated support to leaders across Production and the wider ANZ business, helping embed consistent ways of working, enhancing leadership capability, strengthening the employee experience and supporting the delivery of strategic people priorities. The role will partner across both freelance and staff populations.
Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the VP International HR (Singapore) and the Senior HR Business Partner supporting Global Content (London), this role provides dedicated on-the-ground organizational, culture and people capability support across the ANZ business, which includes a Production, Distribution, Sales and Corporate permanent and production freelance workforce.
The role will partner with leaders across a matrix organization to strengthen it’s, culture, leadership capability, employee experience and governance while supporting the continued evolution of the ANZ business. It is intentionally established as a dedicated culture focused resource, working with and complementing the existing HR partnering team.

Organisation Effectiveness
- Partner with leaders to anticipate organisational challenges and design practical solutions to improve organisational effectiveness and business performance.
- Support organisational design, workforce planning and capability planning activities aligned to business strategy
- Lead and deliver strategic people initiatives aligned to mulitple business priorities.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen organisational capability.
- Use workforce insights,
people data and organisational metrics to identify trends, evaluate effectiveness and inform decision-making.
Leadership &
- Team Development
- Coach, support and challenge leaders through organisational change and growth,
- Build leadership capability through coaching, facilitation and targeted development initiatives.
- Promote collaborative, inclusive and accountable leadership.
- Support leaders to navigate complex people issues and achieve positive business outcomes.
Culture, Employee Experience &
- Wellbeing
- Support initiatives that strengthen engagement, collaboration and inclusion across the business. Identify opportunities to enhance employee well-being and psychological safety.
- Partner with leaders to foster healthy, high-performing teams.
- Support workplace wellbeing and psychologically healthy ways of working.
People Governance
- Promote consistent application of BBCS people practices, processes and applicable governance frameworks.
- Partner with leaders, HR, Legal and Finance to embed people initiatives and ensure alignment with wider BBCS people practices.
- Provide guidance current statutory employment requirementsProvide guidance on employee relations matters, organisational change and risk management.
- Provide advice on both employee and production freelance governance and award adherence
Business Partnership
- Build trusted relationships with business leaders across all lines of business, acting as an internal consultant on people and organisational matters.
- Identify emerging organisational themes and recommend practical solutions. Manage multiple conflicting stakeholder requests
- Translate business strategy into people priorities and actionable plans.
- Identify emerging organisational risks and opportunities and make recommendations to improve performance and culture.
- Lead or contribute to local and international HR projects and change initiatives.
- Bring external market insight and best practice into the business to continuously improve people outcomes.

Knowledge, Skills &
- Experience
- Proven HR Business Partner experience in a large, matrixed complex organisation (International parent company experience is an advantage).
- Preferred experience in a production or media business, or similar with large freelance cohorts and applicable modern awards
- Experience influencing senior leaders and delivering business-focused people solutions.
- Experience in organisational development, leadership coaching and change.
- Excellent employee relations and stakeholder management capability.
- Knowledge of Australian employment legislation, relevant up-to-date awards and contemporary workplace practices.
- Strong influencing, facilitation and relationship-building skills.
- Commercial judgement and ability to work across matrix structures.
- Experience using people data and workforce insights to inform decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to balance employee, commercial and organisational considerations.
- Experience of working across fast paced creative industry
