The Tasmania Football Club is on a historic journey to build Tasmania’s AFL and AFLW club from the ground up. As our Men’s football program continues to grow, we’re looking for a part time Physiotherapist to join our High Performance team and provide clinical and rehabilitation support across our VFL and Academy environments.
This is a unique chance to work across the player pathway, supporting athletes from their development through the Academy and into senior VFL football while helping establish the clinical and rehabilitation standards that will underpin our future AFL program.
About the Role
You will provide high-quality assessment, treatment and rehabilitation support across our Men’s football program, working closely with the Head Physiotherapist-VFL and our Physical Performance, Sports Science and medical teams. You’ll provide weekday clinical capacity across the VFL program while supporting Academy athletes through assessment, treatment, screening and progressive rehabilitation.
A key part of the role will be creating continuity across the pathway, ensuring athletes moving between Academy and VFL environments experience consistent clinical management, rehabilitation and communication.
You’ll assess and manage injuries across VFL and Academy athletes; design and deliver progressive gym and field rehabilitation; provide treatment and clinical support across scheduled training and individual appointment windows; and contribute to return-to-performance planning alongside Physiotherapy and Physical Performance staff.
You’ll maintain high-quality clinical documentation and rehabilitation plans, contribute to case reviews and athlete handovers,
and work closely with the Head Physiotherapist – VFL to ensure clinical resources are directed effectively across the Men’s program.
You’ll also collaborate with Physical Performance, Sports Science, medical and coaching staff to support informed athlete availability, rehabilitation and performance decisions.
What You’ll Bring
You’ll be an experienced Physiotherapist with strong clinical reasoning and rehabilitation capability and an interest in working within a high-performance team-sport environment.
You’ll bring
- Current AHPRA registration as a Physiotherapist and appropriate professional indemnity
- Current First Aid/CPR
- Strong sports injury assessment, treatment and rehabilitation capability
- Experience designing and delivering progressive gym and field rehabilitation
- Strong communication and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
- Team-sport or high-performance sporting experience highly regarded
- Familiarity with athlete management systems, testing and physical performance integration highly regarded
- Postgraduate sports or musculoskeletal physiotherapy qualifications and experience with AMS, VALD and GPS desirable.
The Working Model
This is a part-time position based in Hobart, working across our VFL and Academy programs. The role will predominantly support weekday/evening clinical, rehabilitation and training requirements across the integrated Men’s program.
Some VFL match-day, practice match, camp and weekend support may also be required, depending on program needs.
