The City of Tea Tree Gully is seeking an experienced and motivated Planning Officer to join our Regulatory Services Planning team on a permanent full-time basis. In this role, you'll assess a diverse range of development applications, provide expert planning advice, and contribute to creating high-quality development outcomes for our growing community.
About the Role
Reporting to the Team Leader Planning, you will:
- Assess and process a wide range of development applications.
- Provide pre-lodgement advice to applicants and stakeholders.
- Respond to planning and development enquiries from the community.
- Undertake site inspections and investigations.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for the Council Assessment Panel.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, government agencies, applicants and community members.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the planning team.

About You
You are an experienced planning professional who enjoys solving problems, working with people, and delivering practical outcomes. You thrive in a team environment and understand that great planning outcomes are achieved through collaboration, respect and open communication.
You will bring
- Qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or a related discipline.
- Experience assessing development applications within local government, state government or the private sector.
- Sound knowledge of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act, Planning and Design Code and associated legislation.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex planning matters clearly.
- Well-developed negotiation, organisation and time-management skills.
- A proactive approach, professional integrity and a customer-focused mindset.
- A current Class C driver's licence.
