Tradesperson (Plumber)

We have permanent Tradesperson Plumber position available within the Water Infrastructure Solutions branch. If you are someone who enjoys working as part of a team, brings knowledge or water/wastewater and has innovative ideas, we would love to see your application!

Water is in an exciting transformational phase, bringing to life a new service model designed to optimise and modernise end-to-end service delivery, centrally coordinated from our new purpose-built office space including state of the art Integrated Service Hub (ISH). We are seeking the absolute best to join our team in a variety of key positions aligned to our new, integrated ways of working.
Key indicators:
- Perform maintenance and construction activities on water and wastewater infrastructure in line with daily service plans and reactive works.
- Undertake live water and wastewater connections and install new water meters and services.
- Inspect and maintain trunk main valve boxes, including dewatering, cleaning, condition assessment, and repair or replacement of parts.
- Audit and inspect third-party live connection works.
- Operate valves and hydrants on the water supply system and use hand tools for water/sewer main construction and repairs.
- Operate small plant and equipment such as sewer rodding tools, pumps, and compaction equipment.
- Undertake clearing of blocked sewers and cleanup of sewage overflows on Council land and private properties.
- Complete accurate documentation and submit records using mobile technology.
- Provide expert plumbing advice and assist with troubleshooting on-site issues.
- Supervise and train plumbing apprentices and support the Field Supervisor with toolbox talks and team coordination.
- Liaise with contractors, developers, and project managers on development-related works.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements at all times.
- Readiness to contribute effectively
You'll possess
- Relevant Water Industry qualification or extensive experience in water and wastewater infrastructure construction and maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and draft as-constructed details.
- Comprehensive asset knowledge and strong fault-finding skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of Queensland Workplace Health and Safety legislation and ability to work in confined spaces.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to supervise and mentor others.
Mandatory:
- Queensland plumbing license - Drainer and Plumber
- 'C' class driver licence. 'MR' licence (desirable)
- White Card - 30215 General Safety Induction (Construction Industry) ticket
- Vaccinations - Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Qfever and Tetanus.
- Powers of Entry
- Ability to pass all pre-employment and background checks
