Role Overview

Fire Safety Australia is a small, locally owned fire protection business servicing a wide range of sites—from shopping centres and large food‑processing facilities to residential buildings. We are seeking a motivated Portable Fire Technician who takes pride in their work, communicates well with clients, and shows initiative on the job.

The ideal candidate will hold a VBA Level 2 certification, have experience testing unpumped hydrants and hose reels, and possess basic fire panel knowledge. We are also open to applicants from related trades such as LV mechanics or similar backgrounds looking for a career change.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct routine testing, inspection, and maintenance of:
- Portable fire extinguishers
- Fire blankets
- Hose reels
- Unpumped hydrants
- Perform fire panel testing and basic fault identification.
- Complete all reporting, compliance checks, and site documentation through the Uptick app.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, site managers, and internal staff.
- Work across a diverse range of buildings and industries.




- Assist in‑house sprinkler fitters as a trade assistant at ground level when required.
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship, presentation, and safety.

What We’re Looking For

- VBA Level 2 certification (preferred).
- Experience with hydrant and hose reel testing.
- Fire panel experience (advantageous).
- Robust communication skills and client‑facing confidence.
- Someone who shows initiative, works independently, and takes pride in their work.
- Ability to adapt to different sites, environments, and daily tasks.
- Willingness to support other trades when needed.
- Open to candidates from related trades (LV mechanics, etc.) seeking a new direction.

Pay: $33.00 – $48.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
