In this role, you'll:

- Lead, promote and facilitate a culture of electrical safety and compliance with the Electrical Network Safety Management System when working in the vicinity of the electrical distribution or rail traction networks.
- Lead investigations and report on incidents involving the Sydney Trains Electrical Network and make recommendations to address and improve electrical safety.
- Provide sound advice and guidance to managers, staff and Technically Assured Organisations to foster sound relationships and ensure the control of electrical safety risks.
- Be accountable for leading and mentoring two technical specialists in rail traction and substation safety.
- Undertake reporting obligations to the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal.

This is a permanent role primarily based at Clyde Hub with a requirement to travel around the greater metropolitan network. For more information on this position and business unit, view the role description and information pack.

About You

Your tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering coupled with expert knowledge and application of the Rail Safety Act, the WHS Act, the Electricity Supply Act will enable Sydney Trains to meet its obligations as an electrical network operator and a rail infrastructure maintainer.

Qualifications as an Authorised Officer or an ability to obtain is also highly desirable.

You’re a natural, effective leader who is experienced in leading and managing a team of technical experts.



You’ll be part of the solution to keep rail workers safe at work and your role will directly influence those working in and around the rail corridor, therefore your ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with others is essential.

This is an opportunity to leave a legacy of improved electrical safety in Sydney Trains. You will be challenged and will develop your ability to engage with stakeholders, partner and educate in electrical safety matters and ensure compliance within a regulatory framework.
