About the Company Van Hessen is the leading global player in the harvesting, processing and distribution of natural casings, meat products and raw materials for the pharmaceutical industry.

In Australia we purchase sheep runners (small intestines used to produce natural sausage casings) directly from abattoirs. We work closely with abattoir management and production teams to support runner recovery, product quality and processing improvements.

About the role The Procurement Support provides operational and procurement support to the Procurement Manager across Australia and New Zealand.

The role offers a flexible working location and can be based anywhere across Victoria and Southern New South Wales, with the flexibility to work from home when not travelling.

The role combines hands on supplier and processing site involvement with procurement, supplier management, and project support. The position will involve regular travel across Australia and New Zealand to supplier and processing sites. Visiting production areas to assess how the operation in running, discuss quality results, identify improvements and equipment support needs, and follow up agreed actions.

This is a hands on role suited to someone who enjoys working across different environments, building solid supplier relationships and supporting procurement activities from the ground up, while also valuing the flexibility of working remotely when not required on site.

Key responsibilities

Regularly visit suppliers and processing sites across Australia and New Zealand

- Monitor supplier performance including recovery, quality and operational performance

- Identify and support practical improvements to supplier processes and equipment

- Build strong relationships with supplier management and operational teams

- Report findings, risks and opportunities to the Procurement Manager

- Advise directly in abattoir and production environments and comply with site safety, hygiene, quality and operational requirements





- Support day to day procurement activities and supplier management

About you

- Procurement, commercial, meat processing or operational experience is beneficial but not essential for the right candidate

- Experience in procurement, meat processing or operations would be highly regarded, but not essential. We strongly welcome candidates starting out or changing careers who bring the right attitude and willingness to learn

- Strong analytical ability and interest in developing procurement and commercial skills

- Able to understand operational problems and work with suppliers on practical solutions

- Comfortable dealing with operators and supplier management

- Communicate clearly, concisely and confidently with internal and external stakeholders

- Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in procurement and supplier activities

- Demonstrated ability to support and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders

- Ability to plan, prioritise and manage activities to meet required timeframes

- Must have a current Australian driver's license.
