Orana is looking for a Production Assistant to join our Business Services team and help keep production running smoothly, efficiently and to a high standard.
You’ll work as part of a team to meet customer requirements and production targets, while also supporting employees to build their skills and get enjoyment from their work.

About the role
As a Production Assistant, you’ll play an important hands-on role in supporting the day-to-day production of goods at our Employment Service.
You’ll undertake a range of production and assembly tasks, particularly where additional support is needed to meet customer specifications. This could include packing, taping, labelling and other activities that help increase production output.
You’ll also work alongside supported employees, encouraging and motivating them while helping to develop their skills and confidence in the workplace.
The role is practical, team-focused and fast-paced, with a strong focus on quality, efficiency and meeting deadlines.
What you'll do
- Assist with a range of production and assembly activities, including packing of finished goods utilising pallet jacks, auto taping tooling, production jigs and fixtures and oil bottling machinery etc.
- Help increase production output and ensure customer orders are completed on time.
- Meet production targets, deadlines and required quality standards.
- Work to customer specifications and individual job orders.
- Achieve production rates as advised by the Operations Manager.
- Identify potential production issues and take action to prevent or resolve them.
- Support the team to manage the production workload and meet required timeframes.
- Assist with stocktakes of plant, equipment and supplies.
- Follow direction from Coordinating Supervisors and Managers.
- Assist Supervisors to maintain workplace health, safety and quality standards.
- Communicate with supported employees to help build their skills and enjoyment of their work.
- Encourage and motivate supported employees in their roles.
- Participate positively in team meetings and contribute to problem solving.
- Complete other duties within the scope of the role as required.
About you
You’re practical, reliable and enjoy being part of a team.
You’ll ideally have experience in production, assembly, manufacturing or a similar commercial setting, and be comfortable working towards targets while maintaining a strong focus on quality.
You’ll also bring

Experience working in a disability employment environment is not essential. What matters is your production experience, attitude and willingness to support the people you work alongside.
What you'll bring To work at Orana, you’ll need:
- Experience or a background in production and/or assembly.
- Experience working in a commercial or manufacturing environment.
- NDIS Worker Check.
- National Police Certificate.
- Forklift Licence (desirable)
- Capacity to undertake manual handling duties, stand for extended periods and lift products weighing up to 15kg.
- Willingness to undertake occasional overtime when required.
A Certificate III in Disability Services is desirable but not essential.
