We are seeking an experienced Project Controls Analyst – Cost & Schedule to support our project teams through robust cost management, financial analysis, forecasting and integrated project controls.
This is a commercially focused role for someone who can go beyond transactional cost control to understand what the numbers are telling us, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and provide meaningful insights to support project decision-making.

About the Role The Project Controls Analyst plays a key role in understanding and improving the financial performance of Liberty Industrial projects.
You will maintain project cost data, budgets, commitments, accruals and forecasts, while analysing project performance and providing clear commentary on financial movements, trends and risks.
Working closely with Project Management, Finance, Procurement, Planning and Project Controls teams, you will connect transactional-level data through to management reporting, helping project teams understand the drivers behind cost and margin performance and make informed commercial decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and analyse project budgets, actual costs, commitments, accruals, revenue and forecasts, ensuring data is accurate, complete and reliable.
- Reconcile and analyse Actuals, Commitments, Budgets and Forecasts, identifying variances, trends and emerging financial risks.
- Prepare and maintain Estimate to Complete (ETC), Estimate at Completion (EAC) and cash flow forecasts, providing clear commentary on forecast movements and project performance.
- Analyse project P&Ls;, EBITDA and margin drivers, translating financial information into meaningful insights for Project Managers, Divisional Managers and senior management.
- Prepare and own project cost and financial reporting, including weekly and monthly reporting, in line with project deliverables and governance requirements.
- Explain cost variances, forecast movements and financial trends, working with project teams to understand root causes and develop appropriate actions.
- Maintain the integrity and accuracy of project financial data across General Ledger structures, cost codes, CTRs and project budgets, ensuring alignment with approved budgets, Basis of Estimate (BOE) and change approvals.
- Monitor and administer CTRs and project budgets, including the creation and maintenance of CTRs as required.
- Identify and communicate emerging cost risks and opportunities, including the financial impacts of claims, variations, scope changes and project delivery issues.
- Partner with Project Management, Finance, Procurement, Planning and Project Controls teams to support informed project decision-making.
- Collaborate with planning and scheduling teams to align cost forecasts and financial reporting with project schedules, supporting integrated cost and schedule reporting.
- Provide cost control, forecasting and reporting support to site-based project teams, including guidance on cost tracking and financial controls.
- Support improvements to project controls, cost management, forecasting and reporting processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy and project outcomes.
- Translate complex financial and project data into clear, concise and actionable information for project and senior management.
- Mentor and support junior team members to build internal project controls capability and promote best-practice cost management standards.
About You We are looking for a commercially focused Project Controls professional with strong project financial analysis, cost control and forecasting capability. You will be confident working from detailed transactional data through to project-level and management reporting, and able to clearly explain what is driving financial performance.
What you will bring
Strong Project Financial Analysis Experience
- Demonstrated experience analysing project financial performance, including the ability to read, interpret and explain project P&L; statements.
- Strong understanding of EBITDA, margins, cost drivers and project financial performance.
- Ability to translate financial data into clear, meaningful insights and commentary for Project Managers and senior management.
Advanced Cost Control & Forecasting Skills
- Proven experience managing and analysing budgets, actuals, commitments, accruals and forecasts across project environments.
- Strong experience preparing and maintaining Estimate to Complete (ETC), Estimate at Completion (EAC) and cash flow forecasts.
- Ability to identify, investigate and clearly explain budget and forecast variances, trends and emerging financial risks.
- Strong understanding of project cost control processes and financial controls.
General Ledger & Cost Management Expertise
- Strong understanding of General Ledger structures, cost coding, reconciliations and cost allocations.
- Ability to drill into transactional-level data, investigate discrepancies and cost movements, and consolidate findings into meaningful project and management reporting.
- Experience working with ERP systems such as Netsuite or similar, with confidence navigating financial and transactional data.
Desirable experience
- Primavera P6 experience, with an understanding of project scheduling principles and the integration of cost and schedule reporting.
- Knowledge of Earned Value Management and performance reporting,
including CPI/SPI, S-curves, progress measurement and productivity analysis.
- Experience supporting major projects or EPC environments, particularly across construction, infrastructure, mining, energy or heavy industrial projects with integrated cost and schedule reporting.
Other capabilities
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Advanced Excel capability, including cost analysis, financial modelling and reporting.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to understand the broader project and business implications of financial information.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work effectively with a range of teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Proactive approach to identifying issues, improving processes and supporting better project outcomes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Project Controls or a related discipline.
- CPA, CMA or equivalent professional certification would be desirable.
