Hart Recruitment
Lithgow
Lithgow Area | $100K–$110K + Super + Vehicle | 35-Hour Week
Looking for an engineering role where you can get out from behind the desk and take ownership of real projects?
I’m recruiting a Project Engineer – Civil Engineering / Remediation for a government organisation managing a large and technically interesting site in the Lithgow area.
This is a broad, hands-on role combining civil project management, contractor supervision, site infrastructure, environmental compliance and environmental remediation works.
You’ll work across a range of projects involving civil works, water management, containment systems, earthworks and site remediation, while coordinating contractors and consultants and helping ensure works are delivered safely and effectively.
Why consider it?
- $100K–$110K + super + vehicle
- 35-hour working week
- Secure role with a government organisation
- Interesting, long-term civil and remediation projects
- Genuine project ownership rather than being stuck doing one narrow function
- Mix of site-based work, project management and technical input
- Opportunity to develop experience across civil, environmental and dam-related projects
- Training can be provided in specialist areas such as dam management
What you'll be doing
You’ll work closely with site management, consultants and contractors and take responsibility for activities including:
- Supervising and project managing civil works and contractors
- Developing and reviewing project plans and programs
- Monitoring works against budgets, programs and project objectives
- Coordinating contractors, consultants and other stakeholders
- Assisting with the design and delivery of water management, containment and remediation systems
- Undertaking site and infrastructure inspections and arranging maintenance or repairs
- Supporting major civil works associated with the remediation and closure of former industrial infrastructure
- Reviewing site activities and identifying opportunities to reduce risk, improve compliance and control costs
- Preparing clear technical and project reports
- Supporting environmental, WHS and regulatory compliance across the site
What I'm looking for
Ideally, you’ll have 3+ years' professional experience and a background in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
You don’t need to have done everything listed above. This could suit someone from a civil consultancy, contractor, infrastructure, earthworks, water, environmental or remediation background who wants a broader role with more project ownership.
You'll need to be comfortable working with contractors, solving problems on site and managing multiple priorities.
Strong communication and report-writing skills are important, along with the ability to work independently.
A White Card and Australian driver's licence are required.
Experience with environmental legislation, approvals, GIS, remediation, water management or dam infrastructure would be practical, but isn't essential across every area.
** NB: "Water Infrastructure Design experience" is not a requirement of this role. Mistakenly added to questions list and (stupidly) it cannot be removed!
Interested?
If you're a suitably experienced Civil Engineer or Project Officer looking for a stable, varied role with a 35-hour week, vehicle and interesting long-term projects in the Lithgow area, I'd be keen to hear from you.
