About the role

NQ Estimating & Civil Services is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our team in Cairns, Queensland. This is a casual position offering an exciting opportunity to lead and manage construction projects from inception through to completion.

As Project

Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of project delivery, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role is integral to our business operations and offers the chance to work on diverse civil and construction projects across the region.

Key responsibilities

- Plan, coordinate and oversee all project activities to ensure successful completion within agreed timelines and budgets
- Manage project teams, contractors and subcontractors, ensuring clear communication and adherence to project specifications
- Monitor project progress and financial performance, identifying and addressing any variances or risks promptly
- Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, including schedules, reports, budgets and correspondence
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders and regulatory authorities to manage expectations and ensure compliance with all relevant requirements
- Conduct site inspections and quality assurance checks to ensure work meets contractual specifications and industry standards
- Manage project budgets, control costs and optimise resource allocation
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance project efficiency and profitability
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients, team members and external partners

What we're looking for

- Minimum 5 years' experience in project management within the construction or civil engineering industry
- Proven track record of successfully managing construction projects from conception through to handover
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, processes and best practices
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously




- Sound financial acumen and experience in budget management and cost control
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office applications
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams
- Problem-solving ability and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and commitment to maintaining safe work practices
- Relevant qualifications such as a degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field would be advantageous
- Professional membership in project management bodies (such as AIPM) is desirable
