Our DNS team works closely with Commonwealth agencies and industry partners to deliver specialist expertise into nationally significant programs. Our success depends on our ability to identify, engage and mobilise highly specialised talent quickly and effectively.

The Role
We're looking for experienced Project Officers to join a Project/Program/Portfolio Office supporting a national security agency in Canberra. This is an APS5-equivalent role -- there are 3 positions available -- suited to someone who enjoys the operational side of project delivery, working under the limited supervision of a Project Manager across administrative and technical project activities.
Given the sensitive nature of the workplace, not all work areas can accommodate remote work, so your working arrangement will depend on the specific team you're assigned to. Successful candidates will also be required to complete an Organisation Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to commencement, and the hiring vendor must hold current Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) membership.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with preparations for project test, evaluation and acceptance programs
- Apply project management methodologies to administrative and technical activities
- Research, draft and prepare briefs, correspondence and reports, including submissions for committee consideration
- Maintain project financial records under the limited supervision of the Project Manager
- Support programme or project control boards, project assurance teams and quality review meetings
- Use and recommend project control solutions for planning, scheduling and tracking projects
- Set up and provide guidance on project management software, procedures, processes, tools and techniques
- Define, document and execute small projects or sub-projects, working alone or within a small team
- Identify, assess and manage project risks effectively, monitoring costs, time, quality and resources against agreed tolerances
Required
- Ability to complete ASD's Organisation Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to commencement
- APS5-equivalent experience level
- Experience supporting the use of existing project methods and tools, including configuring and documenting them within a known context
- Experience supporting project or programme control boards, project assurance teams and quality review activities
- Experience using project control solutions for planning, scheduling and tracking projects
- Experience defining, documenting and executing small projects or sub-projects, applying appropriate project management methods and tools
- Ability to agree project approach with stakeholders and prepare realistic project plans, including scope, schedule, quality, risk and communication plans
Salary
$107,000 - $112,000 (Package incl. Super)
Engagement Details
Onsite -- work from home is not always available, depending on assigned team. 12-month engagement, with extension options available.
