The Role
Operating from our Mount Louisa office, this role manages a portfolio of residential and commercial insurance repair and restoration projects across Townsville. You will coordinate subcontractors, oversee project timelines, budgets and documentation, and maintain clear communication with homeowners, insurers and loss adjusters throughout each project.
Reporting to the General Manager and Operations Manager, the role combines office-based coordination with regular time in the field, including travel across the region to monitor progress firsthand. It would suit someone with a background in building, construction or a relevant trade who is ready to apply their practical knowledge in a project supervision role. You may already be working as a Building Supervisor or Project Coordinator, or you may be an experienced tradesperson or Leading Hand looking to take the next step or transition off the tools.
Previous insurance building or restoration experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
With support from experienced leaders and established systems, you will build specialist insurance repair knowledge while applying your existing experience in a new environment. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys building strong relationships, takes pride in delivering quality work and wants to establish a long-term career with Johns Lyng Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule subcontractors across a portfolio of concurrent insurance repair and restoration projects, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard.
- Conduct regular site visits to review progress and workmanship, obtain and file contractor Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), and support compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements and promptly report or escalate safety concerns.
- Monitor project timelines and repair life targets across all active jobs, managing sequencing and escalating issues early to keep projects on track.
- Maintain proactive communication with homeowners, loss adjusters, and insurers throughout each project, building strong relationships, responding to issues promptly and escalating complex matters when required.
- Review estimates, issue purchase orders and monitor project costs and margins to support strong commercial outcomes.
- Attend weekly construction meetings and Work in Progress (WIP) reviews, ensuring all job files, photographs, and documentation are kept up to date.
The Company Positioned as one of Australia’s leading insurance builders, Johns Lyng Group delivers high-quality insurance building and restoration services nationwide. Our reputation is built on quality, reliability and exceptional customer outcomes, supported by a high-performance culture. This role sits within our North Queensland team, where strong relationships, local knowledge and responsive service are central to supporting customers and communities when they need us most.
