About the role
Reporting to the Director Place and Landscapes, you will oversee the full lifecycle of property and lease management across the National Trust's statewide portfolio. Your work will ensure each place—whether a heritage attraction, commercial tenancy, residential lease, community facility or remote ruin—is managed in a way that protects cultural significance while supporting sustainable use, revenue generation and community benefit.
Key responsibilities
- Lead property and leasing frameworks, strategies and procedures
- Manage lease negotiations, renewals, compliance and tenant relationships
- Coordinate asset maintenance, presentation standards and operational oversight
- Identify adaptive reuse opportunities, commercial activation and place based strategies
- Maintain property records, documentation and reporting
- Ensure compliance with legislation, heritage obligations, safety standards and environmental requirements
- Respond to property incidents, tenancy issues and operational risks
- Provide advice to the CEO, Director and senior leaders on property, leasing and compliance matters
- Build productive relationships with agents, tenants, contractors, community groups and local authorities
- Supervise a small team including property, asset management and grounds maintenance staff
About you
- Demonstrated capability in property and leasing management across diverse portfolios
- Sound knowledge of property legislation, leasing practices, heritage obligations,
safety requirements and governance frameworks
- Proven ability to deliver leasing activities, property operations, maintenance planning and compliance monitoring
- Strong advisory skills and the ability to provide practical, confidential and well informed guidance to senior leaders and stakeholders
- Demonstrated management experience to support a team of asset, grounds and leasing staff
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and risk management capability
- Highly developed communication, consultation and relationship building skills
- Skilled integrity, discretion and sound judgement aligned with National Trust values
- Current WA driver's licence and National Police Clearance (required prior to appointment)
