About the opportunity
Northern Grampians Shire Council is looking for enthusiastic and safety-focused Lifeguards to join our team at the St Arnaud Outdoor Pool.
As a Lifeguard, you’ll help create a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for our patrons while supporting the day-to-day operation of our aquatic facilities.
About the role
What you'll be doing:
- Supervise pool patrons and user groups to ensure a safe aquatic environment.
- Conduct regular safety checks and supervisor circuits of the pool deck.
- Operate the water slide and other water play equipment safely.
- Respond to incidents and ensure accurate reporting of OHS incidents and customer complaints.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation across the pool, change rooms and facilities.
- Undertake general housekeeping and assist with maintaining aquatic equipment.
- Undertake water testing and treatment in accordance with required procedures.
- Help ensure patron behaviour supports a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
- Participate in mandatory staff meetings and regular in-house lifeguard training to maintain your skills.
- Undertake other duties within your skills, competence and training.
About you
We're looking for someone who is safety-focused, customer-minded and confident taking responsibility in a busy aquatic environment.

Qualifications & experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:
1. Current Pool Lifeguard qualification.
2. Current Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) recognised resuscitation certification.
3. Current Level 2 First Aid certification.
4. Knowledge of pool supervision, water safety, water education, first aid, resuscitation and rescue techniques.
5. An understanding of public safety requirements within an aquatic environment.
6. Knowledge and appreciation of relevant codes of practice, legislation and health and safety regulations relating to aquatic facilities.
7. The ability to maintain and implement high standards of supervision and safety.
