The Queensland Integrity Commissioner serves to build confidence in public office and institutions by providing independent ethics and integrity advice to Queensland Parliamentarians and Queensland Government and by regulating professional lobbying in Queensland.

The Commissioner's functions and responsibilities are set out in the Integrity Act 2009 (Qld) and includes:

- Providing confidential advice on ethics and integrity issues to current and, in certain cases, former Ministers, members of the Legislative Assembly, ministerial chiefs of staff, senior public servants, statutory office holders, and other persons or classes of persons prescribed by regulation.
- Providing advice to members of the Legislative Assembly on ethics or integrity issues relevant to their disclosure of interests under the Parliament of Queensland Act 2001.
- Providing advice to the Premier, where requested, on standard setting for ethics or integrity issues.
- Raising public awareness of ethics and integrity matters.
- Maintaining the Queensland Lobbying Register.
- Registering lobbyists and administering the lobbying regulatory scheme.
- Providing education and training to government representatives, Opposition representatives, and registered lobbyists about lobbying regulation in Queensland.

Section 74(2) of the Integrity Act 2009 provides that a person is suitably qualified for appointment as the Queensland Integrity Commissioner if the person has knowledge, experience, personal qualities and standing within the community suitable to the office. - Extensive executive-level experience providing strategic advice on ethics, integrity, governance, accountability, or public administration matters.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgement and make sound,



impartial decisions on complex and sensitive issues.
- Exceptional integrity, credibility and professionalism, with a proven commitment to maintaining public trust and confidence.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to provide clear, practical and influential advice to senior leaders, elected officials and other stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of the principles of ethical leadership, public sector accountability, transparency and good governance.
- Experience interpreting and applying legislation, policies and regulatory frameworks within a complex operating environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information with discretion and maintain the highest standards of confidentiality.
- Experience leading education, awareness or capability-building initiatives that promote ethical conduct, integrity and compliance.
- Solid strategic leadership skills, with the ability to drive organisational performance, foster a positive culture and deliver high-quality services.
- Demonstrated understanding of the role of lobbying regulation, integrity frameworks and accountability mechanisms within Queensland's system of government.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to assess complex issues, consider competing interests and provide balanced recommendations.
- A commitment to promoting integrity, accountability and ethical decision-making across the Queensland public sector and parliamentary environment.
- The ability to represent the office with authority and professionalism, enhancing public awareness and confidence in Queensland's integrity framework.
