We’re looking for a confident, enthusiastic Reptile Handler to join our team and help deliver fun, hands-on reptile experiences at parties, markets, community events and educational sessions.
This is a highly interactive role involving both animal handling and engaging with the public, particularly children and families. You’ll help set up and pack down displays, safely handle and present our reptiles, supervise public interactions and share fun, educational information about the animals.
Most importantly, you’ll be responsible for closely observing the animals throughout events and prioritising their wellbeing, recognising signs of stress or discomfort and responding appropriately.
Requirements
- Previous hands-on reptile experience is essential
- Confident and competent handling a variety of reptiles
- Observant and able to recognise changes in animal behaviour, stress or wellbeing
- Strong commitment to animal welfare and safe handling
- Bright, bubbly and engaging personality
- Confident working with children and families
- Calm, responsible and skilled when handling animals
- Reliable, punctual and able to work independently and within a team
- Available for weekend work
- Working with Children Check required
Experience in animal care, veterinary nursing, reptile keeping, wildlife education or similar roles will be highly regarded. Pay: From $25.00 per hour
