The opportunity:
As a Retail Space Planner, you will play a key role in delivering commercially effective retail space solutions across the TerryWhite Chemmart network. Reporting to the Business Manager – Space & Promotions, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining category and promotional planograms that optimise space, improve the customer experience, and support sales growth. Working closely with Category, Merchandise, Operations and Franchise teams, you will help bring category strategies to life through practical and data-driven space planning solutions.
This role is ideal for someone who combines robust analytical skills with a passion for retail execution. You will utilise space planning systems, sales and performance data, and retailer insights to identify opportunities, support range reviews, and contribute to network-wide space optimisation initiatives. Success in this role will come from your ability to balance commercial thinking with attention to detail, build strong stakeholder relationships,
and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
What you will do:
- Develop, maintain and implement category and promotional planograms that support category strategies and commercial objectives.
- Analyse sales, ranging and space productivity data to identify opportunities that improve sales, profitability and return on space.
- Partner with Category, Merchandise and Operations teams to support range reviews, merchandising initiatives and new product launches.
- Ensure planograms align with store execution standards, customer shopping behaviours and network requirements.
- Support store layout, fixture optimisation and space planning projects across the TerryWhite Chemmart network.
- Maintain accurate space planning data and provide reporting, insights and recommendations to key stakeholders.
Skills & Experience We're Looking For:
- Previous experience in retail space planning, category management, merchandising, retail operations or a similar commercial retail environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into practical recommendations.
- Experience using space planning and merchandising software (such as Spaceman, StoreSpace or similar systems) is highly desirable.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets and performance reporting.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills,
with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities while delivering high-quality outcomes.
