You’ll take a lead role in managing the initial client access journey, ensuring people are assessed and connected with the most appropriate support.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Managing the client intake and access process from initial contact through to appropriate referral or service engagement
- Conducting screening, assessment and clinical triage to determine client needs and service suitability
- Assessing urgency, eligibility, therapeutic goals and individual support requirements
- Providing brief interventions and psychoeducation where appropriate
- Identifying and responding to complex clinical risks
- Completing risk assessments and developing appropriate safety and response plans
- Ensuring clients are connected with the most appropriate program or service in a timely and clinically informed manner
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and records
- Working collaboratively with internal teams and external services to support positive client outcomes
Selection Criteria
We’re looking for an experienced clinician with a strong background in mental health, intake, assessment and triage who is confident working with a diverse range of client needs.
You’ll ideally bring:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in health, behavioural or social sciences, community services or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years’ clinical experience within mental health or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in intake, access, assessment and clinical triage
- Strong clinical judgement and the ability to determine client needs, urgency, eligibility and appropriate service pathways
- Experience undertaking risk assessments and developing appropriate safety plans
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Robust organisational, time-management and record-keeping skills
- A compassionate and collaborative approach to clinical practice
- Commitment to trauma-informed, person-centred and culturally responsive practice
- Current Working with Children Check
- Current National Police Check
