Sales Manager – Milking Systems & Barn Equipment
Northern Victoria | Home-based | Permanent full-time A senior field sales role selling milking systems and barn housing solutions to dairy farmers across Northern Victoria — with a 100% Australian family-owned company that has been building better dairies since 1911. Dairy experience is desirable but not essential — strong salespeople with an agricultural or rural background are encouraged to apply, and we will teach you the product.
About Daviesway
Daviesway designs, builds and upgrades dairies across Australia — herringbone and rotary systems — and manufactures its Tech-line and Xtreme 90 ranges of dairy stalls and platform components at its own fabrication workshop in Warragul, Victoria. Our barn housing systems help producers improve cow comfort, ventilation and herd performance, and our installation, service, calf-rearing and DASCO dairy hygiene teams support farmers right through the life of their dairy. We’re family-owned, practical and in it for the long haul — just like the farmers we work with.
The opportunity
We’re looking for a capable, self-driven salesperson to own and grow our milking systems and barn equipment business across Northern Victoria. Home-based and largely autonomous, you’ll work directly with dairy producers on new dairy builds, upgrades, milking equipment replacements and barn housing projects — from the first on-farm conversation through solution design, pricing, proposal and handover to our installation team.
Dairy industry experience is desirable but not essential, and you don’t need to be a milking systems or barn housing expert on day one. If you can build trust with farmers, run a disciplined sales process and close, we will invest in your technical knowledge — you’ll be backed by Daviesway’s design, fabrication, installation and service teams, who will help you scope, specify and price every solution you sell.
The role is Northern Victoria focused,
with travel to other parts of Australia as opportunities require. You’ll report to our Capital Equipment Manager.
What you’ll be doing
- Building and executing a structured growth plan for Northern Victoria across milking systems, milking equipment and barn housing systems
- Consulting with producers on herringbone and rotary dairy builds and upgrades, Tech-line and Xtreme 90 stallwork and platform components
- Scoping and specifying milking plant, automation and associated equipment to suit herd size, labour and growth plans — with our technical team behind you
- Carrying out on-farm assessments and advising on cow comfort, ventilation, airflow, heat-stress management and barn design
- Presenting commercially sound, ROI-backed proposals and managing the full sales process through to installation handover
- Keeping disciplined CRM, pipeline and forecast records and sharing market and competitor insight with the business
What matters most
- A proven sales track record — agricultural, capital equipment, rural supplies, machinery or similar — with real accountability for revenue
- Credibility with farmers — an agricultural or rural background and a practical understanding of how farm businesses make decisions (dairy experience is desirable but not essential)
- Strong consultative selling and relationship-building skills, and the discipline to develop recent business independently
- Confidence talking numbers — performance, return on investment and payback — with producers and their advisers
- Willingness to learn: curiosity about how dairies and barns work and the drive to become the go-to person in your territory
- A current driver licence and willingness to travel regularly, including overnight and interstate when required
Desirable but not essential — we can teach you
- Dairy industry experience — on farm, in pasture-based or housed systems, or in dairy supply and service
- Working knowledge of milking systems — herringbone and rotary dairies, milking plant and automation
- Knowledge of barn ventilation, heat-stress mitigation, barn design and cow-comfort principles
- Experience with dairy design, build or upgrade projects, or milking equipment installation
- An established network across the Northern Victorian dairy sector
What we offer
- Structured product and technical training — time with our design, fabrication and installation teams in Warragul and on farm, so you can sell with confidence
- A senior, home-based field role with genuine autonomy and accountability for your territory
- Competitive salary package, negotiated above award to reflect your experience, vehicle / vehicle allowance, phone and laptop.
- The backing of Daviesway’s own design, fabrication, installation and service teams — you sell solutions we build and stand behind
- A stable, 100% Australian family-owned business with more than a century in the dairy industry
- Regular travel across some of Australia’s best dairy country, with structured quarterly reviews and support from your manager
How to apply
Click Apply and submit your resume with a short cover letter telling us about your sales results and your connection to agriculture. If you’re a strong salesperson without dairy experience, or you aren’t sure you tick every technical box, apply anyway — we’d rather talk to you than miss you.
