Talent Locker is recruiting a hands-on Security Engineer for an established organisation in Wollongong.

The organisation has recently implemented new privileged access, identity governance and Microsoft Sentinel platforms. It now needs an experienced engineer to take technical ownership of these systems and continue strengthening security controls across the business.

This role sits within the Infrastructure team by design and works closely with Cyber.

Cyber sets the direction; you build it.

You’ll have the administrative access and authority needed to configure systems, implement controls and complete technical remediation. This is not a GRC, audit or policy-focused position.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

- Implement, configure and maintain security platforms and controls
- Take ownership of PAM, IAM and identity-governance systems
- Configure and improve MFA, Conditional Access and least-privilege controls
- Maintain and tune Microsoft Sentinel alerts, detections and use cases
- Manage endpoint, email, vulnerability and data-protection controls
- Complete remediation arising from assurance reviews and penetration testing
- Harden cloud, network, server and endpoint environments
- Support incident investigation, containment and post-incident improvements
- Maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks and control evidence
- Work closely with Infrastructure, Cyber, Cloud, Applications and external security partners
- Recommend improved configurations based on your practical engineering experience

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

You have moved beyond the initial training stage of your security career. You have operated security systems in a live environment,



understand how controls work in practice and can independently implement improvements.

You’ll bring

- At least three years of hands-on security engineering, security operations or infrastructure security experience
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure and its security ecosystem
- Practical experience across SIEM, PAM, IAM or IGA, EDR, DLP and vulnerability management
- Experience configuring security platforms—not simply monitoring alerts or escalating remediation
- Understanding of Entra ID, MFA, Conditional Access and identity protection
- Knowledge of infrastructure, networks, firewalls and Windows administration
- Experience investigating security findings and implementing technical remediation
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation and stakeholder-communication skills
- Experience working within incident, change and problem-management processes

Experience with Microsoft Sentinel, Delinea, Microsoft Purview or Abnormal AI will be highly regarded.

Experience in financial services, insurance, healthcare or another regulated environment would be beneficial but is not essential.

Certifications such as Security+, AZ-500, SC-200, SC-300, CCNA, AWS Security, GIAC or CEH will also be viewed favourably.
