Kuubiik is recruiting on behalf of an established accounting and business advisory firm in Melbourne for a Senior Accountant to join its Business Services team.
This opportunity would suit an Australian public-practice accountant looking to apply their technical skills across a varied client portfolio, build client relationships and contribute to taxation and business advisory work.
The Chance
You will work across accounting and taxation matters for privately owned businesses and individuals, supporting clients with their compliance obligations and broader business needs.
The role combines hands-on preparation and review work with direct client communication, tax planning and collaboration with Managers and Partners. This is a Melbourne-based hybrid position requiring regular office attendance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals.
- Prepare and review BAS, IAS and related taxation obligations.
- Manage client jobs, workflow and deadlines through to review and completion.
- Communicate directly with clients, obtain information and respond to accounting and taxation queries.
- Contribute to tax planning and business advisory work.
- Assist with matters involving CGT, FBT, Division 7A and complex entity groups, as appropriate to your experience.
- Liaise with the ATO and other relevant authorities.
- Support junior accountants through guidance and review of their work where required.
- Work closely with Managers and Partners to deliver accurate, timely client work.
About You
- Approximately four or more years of relevant Australian public-practice accounting experience.
Strong applicants with three to four years will also be considered.
- A background in Business Services, Tax or Business Advisory.
- Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns across companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals.
- Sound knowledge of Australian taxation, including BAS, IAS and GST.
- Direct client-facing experience and confidence discussing accounting and taxation matters.
- Ability to manage jobs and competing deadlines with appropriate independence.
- A relevant accounting, commerce or business degree.
- CA or CPA qualification preferred; candidates close to completion will also be considered.
- Experience with Xero, MYOB or comparable Australian public-practice accounting and tax software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
- Client portfolio ownership, tax planning, advisory exposure or experience reviewing junior staff work will be highly regarded.
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency is required for this vacancy.
- Based in Melbourne, or genuinely willing to relocate, and able to attend the office regularly under a hybrid arrangement.
