About the Company The Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF) is a development financier established by the Australian Government to support infrastructure projects across northern Australia. NAIF provides finance to encourage and complement private and public sector investment in economic infrastructure.
NAIF is committed to supporting regional growth by funding infrastructure that creates jobs, strengthens communities, and drives economic development. NAIF has been allocated $7 billion and is well established with commitments totalling over $4.6 billion across 33 investments in Central and North Queensland, Northern Territory, and northern Western Australia.
While NAIF’s funding facility comes from the Federal Government, funding for projects in particular states must be channelled through each of those States, meaning that the Queensland, Western Australia and Northern Territory Governments are key stakeholders.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Associate, Applications Specialist (Microsoft 365) to join our Information Technology team.
Reporting to the Director of IT, this role is responsible for managing and supporting NAIF's Microsoft 365 environment, helping to deliver secure, efficient, and modern workplace technology solutions for the organisation.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and improving Microsoft 365 services, supporting business applications, enhancing security and compliance, and enabling staff to work effectively through modern digital tools. This role also contributes to NAIF's ongoing digital transformation initiatives and continuous improvement of technology services.
Location
NAIF has a strong preference to recruit employees based in Northern Australia, reflecting our purpose and the communities we serve.
Preference will be for this role to be based in Cairns, Darwin, or Townsville. We may also consider applicants from other locations where this supports securing the best candidate.
Responsibilities
- Administer and support Microsoft's 365 platform,
including Exchange Online, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Intune, Entra ID, Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Azure, and related services.
- Manage user identities, access permissions, licensing, and device compliance across the Microsoft 365 environment.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of security controls, including Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Conditional Access, Microsoft Defender, and data protection measures.
- Configure and manage Microsoft Purview solutions, including information protection, sensitivity labels, retention policies, and compliance controls.
- Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for Microsoft 365 issues and work closely with external support partners when required.
- Assist with the design, development, and deployment of Microsoft 365 and Power Platform business solutions.
- Support integrations between Microsoft 365 and other enterprise applications and systems.
- Monitor system performance, availability, usage, and security, identifying opportunities for optimisation and improvement.
- Develop and maintain system documentation, procedures, user guides, and training materials.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, vendors, and managed service providers to deliver technology improvements and projects.
- Contribute to cyber security initiatives and ensure alignment with organisational policies and recognized security frameworks.
About You
We are looking for a proactive and customer-focused technology professional who enjoys solving problems, improving systems, and working collaboratively across the organisation.
You will bring
- Experience administering and supporting Microsoft 365 in an enterprise, government, or corporate environment.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 technologies, including Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and Dynamics 365.
- Experience using Microsoft Purview for information protection, compliance, data governance, and retention management.
- Knowledge of endpoint management, device compliance, and identity and access management practices.
- Experience with Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate.
- Understanding of Microsoft security solutions and modern cyber security practices.
- Experience working in hybrid technology environments that include cloud and on-premises systems.
- Strong documentation, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications such as MS-102, MD-102, SC-200, or equivalent would be highly regarded.
- A minimum of three years' experience supporting and administering Microsoft 365 environments.
