Term 4 start | Permanent part-time (25 hours) | Reports to Head of House | Residential Position with On-Site Accommodation

Join one of Australia's leading boarding communities. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Resident to join the leadership team in McCredie House, supporting students in Years 8-10.

As the second-in-charge of the House, you will work closely with the Head of House to provide leadership, pastoral care and operational support, helping create a safe, welcoming and enriching home away from home for our boarders.

The Role The Senior Resident plays a key leadership role within the Boarding House, supporting student wellbeing, residential operations and staff leadership. In the absence of the Head of House, you will assume responsibility for the day-to-day management of the House.

Key responsibilities include

- Providing exceptional pastoral care and wellbeing support to boarders
- Building positive relationships with students, families and staff
- Supporting and mentoring Boarding Assistants and Senior Boarding Assistants
- Assisting with student health, behaviour management and safeguarding matters
- Coordinating boarding routines, leave arrangements and student supervision
- Managing medication administration and wellbeing documentation in accordance with School procedures
- Contributing to a positive boarding culture aligned with Abbotsleigh's values




- Assisting with the operational management of the House, including administration and facilities coordination
- Acting as a senior decision-maker during evenings, weekends and other delegated periods

About You You are a caring, resilient and highly organised professional who enjoys working closely with young people and contributing to a supportive residential community.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Experience in boarding, residential care, education, youth work, student wellbeing, or a similar environment
- Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities
- An understanding of adolescent development and wellbeing
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Sound judgement and the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- A commitment to child safety and student wellbeing
- Professionalism, integrity and discretion

Roster and Working Hours

This residential position operates on a rotating roster across weekdays and weekends. Typical shifts include:

Weekday afternoon/evening shifts, generally 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm

Weekend day shifts

Weekend evening and overnight shifts

Flexibility to work across a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends and occasional overnight coverage, is essential.
