About the role The Senior Business Services Accountant is a full time role responsible for managing a portfolio of business clients and delivering high-quality accounting and compliance services. The position is hybrid, based in Leichhardt, NSW, with some flexibility to work from home. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing financial statements, management reports, and income tax returns for companies, trusts, SMSFs, partnerships, and individuals with direct client contact. The role involves handling BAS, GST, FBT, and payroll compliance, performing reconciliations, and reviewing work prepared by junior staff for accuracy and completeness.

The Senior

Accountant will assist in providing business advisory support such as tax planning, while maintaining strong client relationships through regular communication and timely issue resolution. The role also involves supporting strategic planning, identifying opportunities for additional services, and contributing to the firm's business development activities.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare financial statements, management reports, and income tax returns for companies, trusts, SMSFs, partnerships, and individuals

- Handle BAS, GST, FBT, and payroll compliance

- Perform reconciliations and review work prepared by junior staff for accuracy and completeness

- Provide business advisory support such as tax planning

- Maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and timely issue resolution

- Support strategic planning and identify opportunities for additional services

- Contribute to the firm's business development activities

About you

- Strong technical accounting skills, including preparation of financial statements, tax returns, and compliance reports for a range of business structures

- Proficiency in accounting and tax software including Xero,



BGL, MYOB and Quickbooks and solid Excel skills

- Minimum 5 years work experience with Australian taxation and regulatory requirements, including BAS, GST, FBT, payroll, and superannuation obligations

- Demonstrated client service and advisory capabilities, including the ability to interpret financial data and present clear, practical recommendations

- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to liaise with other team members and work productively in a hybrid office/remote environment

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting; CA/CPA qualification (or working towards) strongly preferred

- Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines

- Previous experience in public practice or business services accounting, ideally at a senior level, supporting SME and family business clients
