About The Role

Help Shape the messages that keep Victorian communities safer.

CFA is seeking an experienced Senior Engagement Advisor - Content Development to provide strategic leadership and subject matter expertise in the development of community preparedness, fire safety and behaviour change communications content.

In this fixed term role, you will help shape how CFA communicates important fire safety information to communities across Victoria. You will lead the development and continuous improvement of key fire safety messages, ensuring content is evidence-based, community-centred, accessible, consistent and aligned with CFA's strategic priorities. You will provide advice on content strategy, message development and audience-centred communication, working closely with subject matter experts, operations, external agencies and communication specialists.

A key focus of the role will be leading content development projects from concept through to production. This includes developing creative briefs, managing external suppliers and coordinating graphic designers, photographers and videographers to deliver high-quality content across a range of channels and audiences. You will also play an important role in ensuring CFA's fire safety messages remain relevant, effective and responsive to changing community needs, emerging evidence and organisational priorities.

The successful candidate will have access to a CFA pool car for travel and after-hours work.

About You





You are an experienced communications or content professional who combines strategic thinking with strong creative and delivery capability. You understand how to translate complex information into explicit, engaging and accessible content that resonates with diverse audiences.

You will bring

- Extensive experience in content development, strategic communications, including the establishment of governance processes, communication frameworks and content standards.
- Strong understanding of behaviour change communication principles and experience applying audience-centred approaches to influence community awareness, preparedness and action.
- Exceptional writing, editing and content development skills, including experience producing content across digital, print and campaign chanels, writing for the web, applying plain language principles and developing accessible content for diverse audiences.
- The ability to work collaboratively with subject matter experts and operational stakeholders to translate complex information into clear and compelling content.
- Sound understanding of content production processes, including photography, video production, design, approvals and publication workflows. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is desirable.
- Experience leading end-to-end content projects and managing creative suppliers and production partners.
- Strong judgement, attention to detail and the ability to balance evidence, community needs and organisational priorities.
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement, influencing and communication skills.
- Tertiary qualifications in communication, public safety marketing, digital media, community engagement or related discipline will be highly regarded.
