MWS Risk is growing, and we're looking for an experienced Senior Fire Engineer to join our specialist industrial risk consultancy.

We're looking for someone with a strong industrial fire engineering and risk background , with experience in fire risk assessments, audits, fire safety strategies and developing practical solutions to complex industrial fire risks.

What matters is that you have the experience and confidence to lead projects, manage client relationships, make sound technical decisions and take ownership of delivering high-quality work.

This is more than a technical delivery role. You'll work directly with our directors, have genuine autonomy over your projects and have the prospect to influence how our fire engineering capability continues to develop.

MWS Risk is an Australian engineering consultancy specialising in industrial fire and risk engineering, process safety and functional safety .

Our work is focused on heavy industry rather than residential or commercial building services , with projects across sectors including mining, minerals processing, chemicals, oil and gas, energy, ports, marine and transport.

What you'll do Depending on your experience, your work may include:
- Leading industrial fire engineering and risk projects
- Managing project scope, programme, budget and technical quality
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Providing senior technical advice and practical risk-based solutions
- Working with multidisciplinary teams across fire engineering, process safety and broader industrial risk
- Reviewing work and mentoring less experienced engineers
- Contributing to the ongoing development of MWS Risk's fire engineering capability

Your fire engineering experience may include
- Industrial fire risk assessments and workshops
- Fire safety audits and site assessments
- Quantitative Risk Assessment and consequence analysis
- CFD modelling
- Fire safety strategies and risk-based solutions
- Compliance assessments against Australian and international standards
- Preparation and review of technical reports and engineering documentation

You don't need experience in every area.

About you

You'll ideally bring

- A relevant engineering degree
- Significant experience in industrial fire engineering and/or fire risk
- Experience working in heavy industry or other complex industrial environments
- Strong knowledge of relevant Australian and international standards, including applicable NFPA standards
- Demonstrated project leadership and client management experience
- The ability to make sound technical decisions and take ownership of delivery
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work effectively and independently in a remote environment

Professional credentials such as CPEng, RPEQ (Fire Safety/Fire Engineering), RPEV (Fire Safety), NSW Registered Certifier – Fire Safety , or equivalent registrations are highly regarded but not essential.

Location and travel

This position is remote / work from home and can be based anywhere in Australia .

Site travel is required depending on project needs. You'll need a suitable home-office environment and be comfortable undertaking short business trips to client sites when required.
