Remuneration: Dependent on Qualifications

Hours Per Week: 38 (Job Share may be considered for part time hours)

Where you'll be working

Located at Cumberland Hospital, North Parramatta, you’ll join Western Sydney Local Health District’s Older Peoples Mental Health team and play a key role in supporting people with severe and persistent mental illness to achieve safe, meaningful transitions into community-based care.

Cumberland Hospital is NSW’s largest and Australia’s oldest mental health facility, providing care from primary through to tertiary services. You’ll be part of a collaborative workforce committed to innovation, recovery and person-centred care, with opportunities to contribute to the future of mental health services across Western Sydney.

- Work within the state-wide Pathways to Community Living Initiative (PCLI), supporting people experiencing long-term hospitalisation or at risk of becoming long-stay patients.

- Join a multidisciplinary environment focused on recovery, rehabilitation, empowerment and least-restrictive care.

- Build solid partnerships with consumers, carers, families, residential aged care facilities (RACFs), health services and government and non-government agencies.

What you'll be doing

As a Senior Mental Health Clinician,



you’ll provide specialist Older Peoples Mental Health expertise to consumers with complex mental illness and ageing-related needs. You’ll combine clinical leadership with partnership building, education and service improvement to help people achieve greater independence and quality of life.

- Provide specialist assessment, crisis intervention, treatment, care planning and coordination for older people with severe and persistent mental illness.

- Deliver intensive outreach and recovery-focused interventions to support PCLI/OPMH consumers to transition safely from hospital to community care.

- Provide clinical supervision, consultancy, mentoring, education and training to strengthen contemporary mental health practice across teams and RACFs.

- Lead and champion practice improvement, service development, quality initiatives, education, evaluation and research.

- Collaborate with consumers, carers, multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to develop individualised care plans and connect people with the right services and supports.

Essential Requirements:

- Qualification: Bachelor degree or higher level

- Registration: Demonstrated full registration with AHPRA as an Occupational Therapist, Nurse or Psychologist,



or eligibility to be a member of the AASW as a Social Worker (Registered Nurse requires at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience and approved post registration nursing qualifications relevant to the position)

Selection Criteria:

- Demonstrated skills in mental health and discipline specific assessments and interventions and experience working with older people with severe and persistent mental illness.

- Proven recent experience in a mental health leadership and/or change management role.

- Proven clinical experience within a multi-disciplinary team with the ability to provide consultancy, supervision, education and training on clinical issues.

- Demonstrated advanced written and verbal communication skills with computer competence and literacy, including the use of database systems.

- Demonstrated ability to collaborate meaningfully with consumers and carers with a commitment and understanding of recovery principles in mental health service provision.

- Demonstrated working knowledge of NSW Mental Health Act 2007.

- Current Drivers Licence valid within Australia.
