My client is a Global Freight Forwarder with a standout brand and service across the world. As a leader in the Australasian logistics sector, they are an innovative service provider that embraces collaboration, learning, and development. Due to continuous growth & expansion they are looking to add a Customs Classifier to the Head Office team based in Brisbane. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will work in a team with a strong focus on supporting key accounts, and process & compliance excellence.

The Role

Supporting the Brokers and Operations Team, the Customs Classifier main responsibilities will include:

- Classifying and compiling of a variety of commodities within the customs tariff
- Liaising with shipping lines, airlines, freight forwarders and government bodies when necessary
- Providing a high level of customer service at all times
- Troubleshooting any queries with clients and internal departments
- Ensuring consignments are cleared in an efficient and timely manner
- On-going supportive role of day to day customs entry processes supporting the Operational customs Manager to achieve constant improvement




- Ensure the department has the necessary tools & resources to achieve assigned tasks in a quality/productive manner.
- Actively participate in the recruitment and development of team members - including mentoring, coaching, challenging and evaluating team members

Your Experience

- Minimum of 2 years' experience in Customs Compiling and Classifying, or currently undertaking/completed a recognised Customs course
- Proficiency in CargoWise One is essential
- Solid understanding of the Customs Tariff and related regulations
- Competent in using Microsoft Office applications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Effective time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
