Senior Sentinel & Logic Apps Engineer

Contract: 12 months + potential extension

Location: Melbourne The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Sentinel & Logic Apps Engineer to join a cyber security automation and engineering team within a large, complex enterprise environment.

This is a genuinely hands-on engineering role where you’ll help build security automation capabilities from the ground up across Microsoft Sentinel and Logic Apps.

The environment is undergoing significant development, giving you the opportunity to design and implement production-ready security automation rather than simply maintain existing configurations.

What You'll Be Doing

- Design and develop security automation workflows using Microsoft Logic Apps.
- Build, test and maintain resilient security playbooks.
- Develop workflows that incorporate appropriate failure handling, retry logic, logging and observability.
- Implement and configure Microsoft Sentinel as a security operations platform.
- Develop analytics rules, automation rules and incident orchestration capabilities.
- Integrate security platforms with enterprise systems across SaaS, on-premises and hybrid environments.
- Work closely with SOC and cyber security teams to translate operational requirements into practical automation solutions.
- Design and deliver automation supporting detection, investigation and response workflows.
- Troubleshoot complex issues across integrated and distributed systems.
- Provide technical guidance and contribute to engineering capability uplift.
- Work with technical and business stakeholders to define requirements and develop fit-for-purpose solutions.
- Provide technical leadership around security automation and integration design.

What We're Looking For You’ll need a strong combination of Logic Apps engineering, Microsoft Sentinel and cyber security automation experience.

Essential experience includes:





- 5+ years' experience building and operating Microsoft Logic Apps workflows in production environments.
- 3+ years' experience implementing and operating Microsoft Sentinel for security operations use cases.
- Strong coding experience in one or more languages such as Python, PowerShell or TypeScript.
- Experience delivering security automation solutions within large and complex environments.
- Experience integrating security platforms with enterprise systems across SaaS, on-premises and hybrid environments.
- Solid understanding of SOC operations, including incident response, investigation and threat detection.
- Demonstrated ability to design, build and optimise resilient, maintainable automation workflows.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders to define and refine technical requirements.
- Ability to operate effectively in complex and sometimes ambiguous environments.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable

- Experience with other SOAR or automation platforms such as Ansible or Splunk SOAR.
- Exposure to Machine Learning, LLMs or emerging automation techniques.
- Telecommunications or utilities experience.
- Experience with security policy and controls frameworks.
- Experience providing technical guidance or mentoring to junior engineers, graduates or interns.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent practical experience.

About You You're a pragmatic builder who enjoys taking complex security requirements and turning them into practical, production-ready solutions.

You'll be comfortable working autonomously, managing multiple priorities and collaborating across cyber security, engineering and business teams.

Most importantly, you're someone who has personally built and implemented Logic Apps and Sentinel solutions in production, rather than simply supporting or managing solutions delivered by others.
