SESLHD Drug and Alcohol Service offers a range of treatment and support services for people with problems from their alcohol, prescription or illicit drug use, and/or their families and carers. Outpatient D&A; services are located in clinics at the Langton Centre in Surry Hills, St George Hospital in Kogarah, and Caringbah Community Health Centre at Sutherland Hospital. Inpatient D&A; services are provided at Sydney Hospital, Prince of Wales, St. George and Sutherland Hospitals.

Our goal is to improve health, wellbeing and social outcomes for individuals, families and the community, related to drug and alcohol use.

Responsibilities The Nurse Educator is responsible for the efficient and effective provision and evaluation of education, training and professional development for new and existing staff of the SESLHD Drug & Alcohol Service.

Key responsibilities of the position include:

- Implementation of the Workforce Development Package for the AOD NSW Health Clinical Care Standards for AOD Treatment.
- Coordination and evaluation of the education and training program to the Drug & Alcohol multidisciplinary workforces, including in-service schedules, staff orientation, clinical skills and competencies, and other professional development activities.




- Establishment of the Drug & Alcohol Service as an active participant in the SESLHD GradStart program by coordinating and evaluating rotational placements for graduate nurses.

Selection Criteria

- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia and holds post registration nursing/midwifery clinical or education qualifications relevant to the clinical area, or qualifications deemed equivalent.
- Recent experience in the development of practice.
- Demonstrated effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, coordinate, deliver and evaluate education and training programs.
- Demonstrated understanding of contemporary adult learning principles.
- Computer literacy and understanding of relevant information systems.
