Position Summary
The 1st / 2nd Class Sheet Metal Worker will be responsible for the accurate measurement, set-out, fabrication, insulation and lagging of acoustic silencers, flue pipes and associated sheet metal components. The role requires a high level of trade skill, attention to detail and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
The successful candidate will work as part of the Parratech Manufacturing team to deliver quality products safely, efficiently and within required project timeframes.
Responsibilities
- Measure and accurately set out acoustic silencers, flue pipes and associated components.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings and specifications.
- Mark out, cut, fold, roll and fabricate sheet metal components to required dimensions.
- Fabricate acoustic silencer casings, flue sections, covers, flashings and associated sheet metalwork.
- Complete insulation and lagging of acoustic silencers, flue pipes and related equipment.
- Operate sheet metal fabrication machinery, including guillotines, folders, rollers and associated hand tools.
- Check finished work for dimensional accuracy, quality and compliance with drawings and specifications.
- Identify and report any fabrication issues, defects or discrepancies.
- Work closely with Production, Engineering and Quality teams to achieve project requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe work environment.
- Follow Parratech WHS procedures,
safe work practices and quality requirements.
- Meet agreed production schedules and project deadlines.
- Take pride and ownership in the quality and presentation of completed work.
Key Skills/Qualifications:
- 1st or 2nd Class Sheet Metal Worker trade qualification.
- Demonstrated experience in sheet metal fabrication.
- Experience working with acoustic silencers, flue systems, ducting or industrial sheet metalwork would be highly regarded.
- Ability to accurately measure, mark out and fabricate components from engineering drawings.
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques.
- Competent in the use of guillotines, folders, rollers and other sheet metal machinery.
- Experience with insulation and lagging is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of measurements, dimensions, tolerances and fabrication requirements.
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good understanding of WHS requirements and safe work practices.
- Physically capable of handling sheet metal, insulation and fabricated components safely.
- Reliable, punctual and committed to meeting production requirements.
- Positive communication and problem-solving skills.
