This is a great opportunity to step into our Shipping Team at our National Store Support Centre in Rochedale. You’ll work closely with suppliers, freight partners, customs and internal teams to keep the movement of containers and orders running smoothly, gaining valuable exposure across the end-to-end import and shipping process.
Join us for a 12-month fixed term contract where you’ll play an important role in supporting our day-to-day shipping operations in a fast-paced national retail environment.
Your impact
- Set up supplier accounts and manage illegal logging compliance
- Engage with suppliers across vessel bookings, container release, order status and documentation
- Process customs duties
- Conduct monthly, quarterly and annual meetings with contractors, providing detailed notes and feedback to the Shipping Manager
- Monitor delayed vessels through regular container update reports to DCs
- Coordinate DAFF/Customs inspections and visits with DCs
- Maintain the MTO shipping process
- Reconcile, process, approve and dispute payments to suppliers and contractors
- Complete regular variance reporting and provide updates to key stakeholders
- Liaise with wharf cartage companies, including regular meetings and forecasting
- Liaise with Freight Forwarders to ensure continued performance, including meetings, forecasting and operational concerns
- Maintain and monitor claims with suppliers and carriers
- Liaise across internal teams to support the overall movement of containers and orders
- Follow up on order performance
- Manage daily operational tasks, including container release and inbound volume control
What you bring
- Experience within the shipping, freight or logistics industry will be highly regarded
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proven computer skills, particularly across Microsoft Office
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
- Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Customer-focused and results-driven
- A proactive approach, with the ability to hit the ground running and show initiative
