About the role
No two days at Yarra are quite the same.
One day you might be coordinating contractors and prioritising maintenance works; the next you could be preparing the property for a large school camp, reviewing an infrastructure issue, supporting the Head Of Guest Services or planning improvements ahead of a busy holiday period.
You’ll have oversight of the whole site while taking particular responsibility for its physical operation, maintenance and presentation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing overall onsite leadership and operational oversight of the Holiday Park and Adventure Park
- Leading and supporting the Head Of Guest Services and maintenance team
- Overseeing buildings, accommodation, grounds, infrastructure, equipment and facilities
- Developing and managing preventative maintenance programs
- Remaining hands-on and assisting with practical maintenance and repairs when required
- Coordinating contractors, tradespeople, suppliers and project works
- Identifying maintenance and infrastructure issues before they become bigger problems
- Ensuring the site is safe, well presented and operationally ready
- Supporting WHS, risk management and compliance requirements
- Planning site works around camps, group bookings, retreats and peak holiday periods
- Contributing to budgets, asset planning, capital works and site improvement projects
- Working closely with senior management on operational priorities and the ongoing development of the park
About you
You’re likely someone who has spent years working in a trade, construction, facilities, property or maintenance setting and is ready for a new role and has progresed into supervising people, projects or operations.
You don't need to come from the holiday park industry.
What matters is that you understand how to manage a large, busy site, can lead people effectively and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty when something needs doing.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has a relevant trade qualification and/or substantial trade and maintenance experience
- Has experience leading staff and coordinating operational teams
- Is practical, organised and confident making decisions
- Can look across a property and quickly identify what needs attention
- Understands preventative maintenance, not just reactive repairs
- Can effectively plan and prioritise works within allocated budgets, balancing operational needs, preventative maintenance and longer-term site priorities making practical and cost-effective decisions.
- Can coordinate contractors, projects and competing priorities
- Has a strong understanding of safety and risk
- Communicates well with staff, contractors, guests and senior management
- Takes ownership and follows things through
- Can balance hands-on work with broader management responsibilities
- Is comfortable working in a dynamic environment where priorities can change quickly
- Has experience in holiday parks, resorts, accommodation, camps, facilities management or other large multi-use properties- This is highly regarded, but isn't essential.
Essential Requirements
- Current Driver Licence
- Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain
- First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain
- Must be aligned with the values and beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Hours & Availability
This is a full-time role requiring flexibility to meet the operational needs of a seven-day holiday and adventure park.
While the position will have established ordinary working hours, the Site Manager will be required to provide reasonable flexibility during peak periods, major group bookings and operational events.
As a senior onsite leader, the role will also participate in an after-hours/on-call arrangement to respond to urgent maintenance, safety or operational matters when required. On-call and additional hours will be managed in accordance with the applicable employment arrangements.
