This is more than a technical engineering role. You’ll be involved across the full project lifecycle — from planning, design coordination and procurement through to construction, commissioning and handover — giving you the opportunity to make a real impact on project outcomes.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer , you’ll work closely with Project Managers, Estimators, Manufacturing, Finance, Site Supervisors and Installation Teams to deliver projects safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.

The Role n
As Project Engineer, you’ll provide technical and commercial leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
n
You’ll be responsible for ensuring projects are properly planned, engineered, coordinated and delivered, while working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams.
Engineering & Technical Delivery n
n
- Manage engineering delivery across multiple commercial construction and infrastructure projects.
n
- Review engineering drawings, specifications and construction documentation.
n
- Interpret structural, fabrication and construction drawings.
n
- Develop practical construction methodologies and project sequencing.
n
- Resolve technical issues and provide effective engineering solutions.
n
- Coordinate RFIs, design clarifications and engineering approvals.
n
- Ensure works comply with Australian Standards, project specifications and quality requirements.
n
- Support QA processes, inspections and defect management.
n
Project & Commercial Management nn
- Assist with project planning, scheduling and resource allocation.
n
- Monitor budgets, costs, progress and overall project performance.
n
- Manage project variations and ensure they are properly documented, approved and commercially recovered.
n
- Coordinate procurement of materials, subcontractors and specialised equipment.
n
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
n
- Prepare project reports, forecasts and progress updates for senior management.
n
- Support commissioning, handover and project close-out.
n
Site & Construction Coordination nn
- Work closely with Site Supervisors and Installation Teams to keep projects moving efficiently.
n
- Coordinate subcontractor performance, compliance and site activities.
n
- Conduct site inspections and monitor construction quality.
n
- Chair toolbox meetings and contribute to a strong safety culture.
n
- Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, company procedures and client requirements.
n
- Provide practical solutions to on-site technical and operational challenges.
n
Client & Stakeholder Relationships n
You’ll be an important link between the client, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams.
n
You’ll attend project meetings, provide technical advice, communicate progress and help ensure clients receive a high level of service throughout the project.
n
Your ability to combine engineering judgement with commercial awareness and strong communication will be key to your success.
What We’re Looking For n
You’ll ideally bring:
n
n
- A Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Construction Engineering .
n
- 3–5+ years' experience as a Project Engineer in commercial construction, infrastructure, manufacturing or steel fabrication.
n
- Strong knowledge of project management principles and construction methodologies.
n
- Experience interpreting engineering, structural and fabrication drawings.
n
- Understanding of Australian Standards and construction compliance.
n
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and multiple stakeholders.
n
- Strong commercial awareness, including budgets, costs and variations.
n
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
n
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
n
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and project management software.
n
- A current Driver's Licence.
n
Experience That Will Give You an Edge n
Experience in any of the following will be highly regarded:
n
n
- Fencing and infrastructure projects.
n
- Structural steel and steel fabrication.
n
- Manufacturing and fabrication environments.
n
- 2D and 3D CAD drawing review.
n
- Fabrication and manufacturing processes.
n
- MYOB, ERP or project costing systems.
n
- White Card.
n
