CVC Optimisation ConsultantAbout the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Operational Excellence / Transformation Consultant to support the implementation of an approved optimisation plan at coal mine .

The focus of the role is to work closely with mine leadership, supervisors and frontline teams to improve planning, readiness, operational performance and continuous improvement.

This is a hands-on role that will require significant time in the field, working with operational teams to embed better processes and ways of working.

Key Focus AreasThe consultant will support improvement across five key areas:

- Rate to Standard – improving operational performance and productivity.
- Panel & Sequence Readiness – ensuring work is properly planned and ready to execute.
- Equipment Readiness – improving equipment availability and reliability.
- Workforce Readiness – ensuring the right people, skills and resources are available.
- Infrastructure Readiness – ensuring critical infrastructure and supporting activities are ready.

Key Responsibilities

- Turn the existing optimisation plan into a practical implementation plan with clear actions, owners and timelines.
- Establish and improve planning and operational routines across the mine.
- Work with leaders and frontline teams to improve daily execution and performance.
- Identify operational issues and help teams address the root causes.
- Develop simple KPIs, dashboards and visual performance measures.
- Establish clear readiness standards and operating procedures.
- Coach leaders and supervisors in continuous improvement and problem solving.
- Improve coordination between Production, Engineering, Maintenance and Workforce teams.




- Track improvements, benefits and operational performance.
- Ensure improvements are measurable and sustainable.
- Transfer knowledge and capability to the CVC team so the improvements can continue after the consultant leaves.

- 90-day and 12-month implementation roadmap
- Operational planning and performance routines
- Readiness and execution standards
- R1–R5 improvement plans

- Documentation and capability transfer

- Implementing operating systems and performance routines

Engagement

- Initial duration: Approximately 9 months
- First 8–12 weeks: Strong focus on mobilisation, planning and implementation
- Remaining engagement: Embedding the operating model, coaching, problem solving and capability transfer
- Consultant involvement is expected to reduce as the mining/client's team takes ownership.

In Simple Terms: The role is about taking an existing mine optimisation plan and making it work in practice — improving planning, equipment and workforce readiness, operational discipline and performance, while building the capability within the mining team to sustain the improvements.
