Great Keppel Island Hideaway is a resort tucked into the Southern Outstanding Barrier Reef, just a short ferry ride from Yeppoon on the Capricorn Coast offering a relaxed and beautiful place to work. We offer island accommodation and a restaurant that's open seven days a week, hosting weddings, functions and live music events throughout the year.
We are currently seeking to fill the following positions.
Restaurant Manager
We are looking for an experienced Restaurant Manager to oversee the daily operations of our restaurant, which services breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant and bar are integral to the service Great Keppel Island Hideaway provides given our remote location, and the Restaurant Manager needs to plan accordingly with the chef to ensure adequate kitchen stock, staffing and supplies at all times.
Duties include:
- Directing the operations of the restaurant
- Managing rosters
- Supervising food and beverage staff
- Controlling and ordering stock
- Monitoring service standards
- Managing budgets and costs
- Liaising with kitchen staff to ensure smooth service
Skills and experience required:
- Diploma or equivalent management qualification or 3 years’ experience in lieu
- At least 12 months relevant experience
- Strong leadership and staff management skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Chef
We are looking for a skilled Chef to plan menus and lead kitchen operations for our restaurant, particularly during our dinner service which offers a full à la carte menu including premium oysters and king prawns,
mains spanning pan fried fish, seafood marinara, slow cooked lamb shank and grilled steaks from the grill.
Duties include:
- Planning and preparing menus
- Overseeing food preparation and cooking
- Managing kitchen staff and rosters
- Ordering and managing stock and food costs
- Maintaining food safety and hygiene standards
Skills and experience required:
- Certificate IV or equivalent cookery qualification or 3 years’ experience in lieu
- At least 12 months relevant experience
- Strong food safety knowledge
- Capacity to work efficiently under pressure during peak periods including functions and events
Marketing Specialist
We are looking for a Marketing Specialist to develop and manage marketing activities that help promote Great Keppel Island and the resort's full range of offerings to both day trip and overnight guests. Given our remote location, strong marketing is essential to driving awareness. This is an in-office role based on site.
