The Opportunity:

Eligibility: Applicants must be Australian citizens and be eligible to obtain and maintain an active Australian Government Defence security clearance at the level required for the position.

Design, implement and maintain secure, high performing network environments across complex multi data centre and remote site operations. Play a key role in delivering reliable network infrastructure, supporting critical business operations and ensuring systems are resilient, scalable and ready to meet future demands.

Work across a broad range of Cisco technologies, including routers, core and user switches, wireless LAN controllers, access points, ISE, network automation and monitoring platforms. Develop and test network solutions, troubleshoot complex technical issues, manage security and vulnerability updates, and maintain robust backup, recovery and documentation processes.

Continuously identify opportunities to improve network performance, reliability and efficiency, while evaluating emerging technologies and contributing to the design and delivery of innovative solutions. Collaborate closely with technical teams, stakeholders and customers to deliver successful outcomes across key projects and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

- Install, configure, maintain and support Cisco network hardware and software across data centre and remote site environments.

- Configure and manage network management and service accounts, ensuring appropriate access and security controls are maintained.

- Monitor network performance, availability and health, proactively identifying and resolving issues before they impact users or operations.

- Deploy system-wide software updates, security patches and vulnerability remediation activities.

- Provide technical network support to users and wider IT infrastructure across the project.

- Manage and maintain network configuration backups to support recovery and business continuity.

- Support and maintain Cisco Call Manager systems and associated services.

- Respond to network outages and perform core network recovery activities, including after-hours support when required.

- Investigate complex network issues and develop practical,



reliable solutions aligned with business and operational requirements.

- Identify and implement opportunities to improve the management, performance and reliability of wired and wireless networks.

- Contribute to the successful delivery of project milestones, programs and network infrastructure initiatives.

- Maintain accurate technical documentation, network configurations and operational procedures.

- Liaise with customers, stakeholders and technical teams to understand network issues, coordinate solutions and ensure timely resolution.

What you'll bring:

- Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience and education.

- Strong knowledge and practical experience across enterprise networking technologies, including:

- BGP and OSPF

- QoS and WLAN

- SD-WAN

- Hands on experience deploying, configuring and managing Cisco network infrastructure, including IOS, ISE, Catalyst Centre and network monitoring platforms.

- Experience installing and supporting data centre network infrastructure, including structured cabling.

- Experience with network scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, Ansible and Shell scripting.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve complex technical issues.

- Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice.

As well as the above any skills in the following is highly desirable:

- Intermediate experience with Software-Defined Networking (SDN), network automation, Red Hat Linux and virtualisation technologies.

- Experience working within an engineering, infrastructure or project-based environment, preferably within the defence industry.

- A strong customer and outcomes-focused approach, with the ability to deliver practical and effective solutions.

- A willingness to learn,



share knowledge and continuously develop technical skills in a agile and evolving technology environment.

- CCNA or CCNP certification.
