Business Development Manager – Tiling & Stone
Tiling & Waterproofing | Residential & Commercial | Perth WA
$80,000 – $120,000 + Super + Performance Bonus/Commission
WA Standard Tiling & Stone Pty Ltd (WA STS) is a growing Perth-based tiling and waterproofing contractor servicing residential, commercial and government-related construction projects across Western Australia.
We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager – Construction who understands the WA construction industry and has established relationships with builders, developers, construction companies, project managers, contracts managers and other key decision-makers.
This is not a cold-calling-only sales role.
We are looking for someone who can open doors, build relationships, identify upcoming projects, secure RFQs and tender opportunities, win new contracts and develop long-term builder partnerships.
What You Will Do
You will work directly with the company owner and management to grow WA STS’s builder and developer client base.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing new relationships with residential and commercial builders
- Building relationships with developers, head contractors and construction companies
- Identifying upcoming construction projects and trade package opportunities
- Securing RFQs, tender invitations and subcontract opportunities
- Following up quotations and tenders prepared by our estimating team
- Attending builder meetings, project meetings and site visits
- Maintaining relationships with Construction Managers, Contracts Managers, Trade Managers, Project Managers and Site Supervisors
- Developing existing builder accounts and increasing project volume
- Identifying government and public-sector construction opportunities
- Developing opportunities in government housing, NDIS, commercial fit-outs, shopfitting, maintenance and refurbishment
- Supporting management with commercial negotiations and contract review
- Identifying contractual and commercial risks and bringing them to management’s attention
- Assisting with subcontract negotiations and contract signing
- Maintaining an accurate sales pipeline and reporting opportunities to management
- Representing WA STS professionally throughout the construction industry
Your Main Objective
Your role is easy:
Bring more suitable construction opportunities into WA STS and turn relationships into long-term contracts.
We are particularly interested in candidates who already have relationships with WA builders and construction companies.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a commercially minded and well-connected construction professional.
You will ideally have:
- 10+ years’ experience in construction business development, sales, account management, contracts, procurement or a similar role
- Strong understanding of the WA residential and/or commercial construction industry
- Existing relationships with builders, developers, head contractors or construction companies
- Experience securing RFQs, tenders or subcontract packages
- Experience developing and maintaining key client accounts
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Practical understanding of construction contracts and commercial terms
- Ability to identify opportunities and follow them through to contract award
- Strong follow-up and relationship-management skills
- Current Australian driver’s licence
- Ability to travel across Perth and WA project sites when required
Your Existing Industry Network Matters

Experience working for a builder, head contractor and trade contractor will be highly regarded.

You do not need to be a lawyer.
However, you should be comfortable reviewing construction subcontract agreements and identifying commercial issues such as:
- Scope of works
- Payment terms
- Retention
- Variations
- Defects liability
- Warranties
- Insurance
- Programme requirements
- Liquidated damages
- Compliance requirements
- Other commercial risks
Final contract decisions will be made in consultation with company management.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first 3 months, we expect you to:
- Build a clear pipeline of new builder/developer opportunities
- Establish new relationships with relevant construction decision-makers
- Secure new RFQs and tender invitations
- Develop new active builder accounts
- Increase opportunities for tiling and waterproofing packages
- Strengthen existing client relationships
- Help WA STS secure new contracts and continue work

Performance Incentive

- Development of strategic client relationships
