About the opportunity

Werribee Mercy Hospital is entering a landmark new phase, with the opening of a major Emergency Department expansion. This expansion will significantly increase our capacity and enable us to meet the rapidly growing healthcare needs of the Wyndham community, providing timely, high-quality emergency care to an additional 25,000 patients each year.

The expanded will increase treatment spaces from 33 to 67, including state-of-the-art resuscitation bays and dedicated short-stay beds, creating one of Victoria's most exciting Emergency Department growth opportunities.

As a Clinical Nurse Manager - Quality and Risk, you will play a pivotal leadership role within the Emergency Department Nursing Leadership Team. Working closely with the Nurse Unit Manager, you will provide leadership in clinical governance, quality improvement, patient safety and risk management, helping to drive a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in care delivery.

This role is ideal for an experienced Emergency Department leader who is passionate about quality outcomes and patient safety. You will work collaboratively with nursing, medical and multidisciplinary teams to identify improvement opportunities, oversee incident management processes, support accreditation readiness and ensure the department continues to meet national safety and quality standards.

You will:

- Lead quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient outcomes and service performance
- Support clinical governance,



accreditation and compliance with National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards
- Provide leadership in incident management, risk mitigation and continuous improvement activities
- Work in partnership with Clinical Nurse Manager - Workforce and Operations
- Build capability across the nursing workforce through education, coaching and support
- Provide clinical leadership, building capability and culture within the ED nursing workforce and promote psychological safety in incident reporting
- Be part of an exciting ED expansion that will help shape the future of emergency care in Wyndham

What you'll bring

You're a passionate and influential nursing leader who is committed to delivering safe, high-quality patient care. You thrive in complex healthcare environments and enjoy working collaboratively to drive continuous improvement, strengthen clinical governance and support positive patient outcomes.

To thrive in this role, you will have:

- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
- Postgraduate Critical Care or Emergency Nursing qualifications
- Extensive Emergency Department experience within a complex healthcare setting
- Demonstrated leadership experience at a senior nursing level
- Experience in clinical governance, quality improvement and risk management
- Solid understanding of patient safety, accreditation requirements and National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards
- Highly developed analytical, reporting and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to influence change,



lead improvement initiatives and manage complex clinical issues
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- A commitment to fostering a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement

Desirable:

- Postgraduate qualification in Health Management, Leadership or a related discipline
- Previous experience in clinical leadership roles within an Emergency Department or other acute healthcare setting

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

- A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
- Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
