About the role

We are seeking an experienced Production Manager—or an Operations or Project Manager with relevant transferable skills—to take responsibility for the planning, coordination and day-to-day performance of our Queanbeyan manufacturing facility.

This is a hands-on management position combining approximately 80% office-based planning and coordination with 20% involvement on the factory floor.

While most of the role involves managing production schedules, orders, systems, documentation and priorities, the successful candidate will also maintain a regular and visible presence within the factory. You will work directly with production staff, investigate issues at the source and provide practical assistance when required to keep production moving.

This position is not suitable for someone seeking a purely office-based management role.

Key responsibilities

- Review incoming factory orders and confirm they are ready for production.

- Prepare and manage daily, weekly and forward production schedules.

- Allocate staff, machinery and resources according to production priorities.

- Monitor work in progress and ensure orders are completed by required dispatch dates.

- Identify potential delays, production bottlenecks and material shortages before they affect delivery.

- Provide clear daily direction and support to factory employees.

- Maintain a regular and visible presence on the factory floor.

- Work directly with production staff to resolve manufacturing and technical issues.

- Monitor productivity, workmanship and compliance with manufacturing procedures.





- Oversee quality control throughout machining, edging, assembly, packing and dispatch.

- Investigate manufacturing errors, remakes and recurring quality issues, and implement corrective action.

- Identify and implement improvements to production systems, workflow and manufacturing processes.

- Promote safe working practices and ensure employees follow WHS and machinery procedures.

- Assist with staff training, performance management and development.

About you

We welcome applications from experienced Production Managers, as well as Operations or Project Managers with relevant transferable skills. Previous cabinetry or joinery experience would be beneficial but is not essential.

More importantly, you will understand—or be able to quickly learn—how an order progresses from factory documentation through manufacturing, quality control, packing and dispatch.

You will ideally have:

- Experience in production management, operations management, project management or a similar leadership role.

- Solid planning, scheduling and organisational skills.

- Experience coordinating employees, suppliers, materials and competing deadlines.

- The confidence to lead a production team, set clear expectations and hold people accountable.





- A practical approach to identifying and resolving problems.

- The ability to move comfortably between office-based management and factory-floor involvement.

- Experience working with factory orders, product specifications and production documentation.

- Strong computer skills, including confidence using spreadsheets and production systems.

- Understanding of quality control, WHS, and continuous improvement.

- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with factory employees, administration staff, suppliers and business owners.

Experience with CNC manufacturing, cabinetry, furniture, building products, metal fabrication, modular construction or another technical manufacturing environment would be highly regarded.

Formal qualifications in project management, manufacturing, engineering, business operations or a relevant trade would also be viewed favourably. However, demonstrated practical experience and the ability to manage people and production effectively will be equally important.
